Why split up the silverado/sierra? honestly is there anything noticeably different between the two?
big options differences, the GMC is considered to be the luxury of the 2 models even though some silverado's have more options then some caddy's

Anyone notice, even though we're sittin here griping about how the big V8's aren't selling and the smaller gas friendly cars are....hmm silverado's and sierra's combined, are selling more then even the big time F series....which means...GM is in the right, and they should definitely keep a close eye on this market. 3 of the top 4 vehicles are trucks, and have been for several years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time in awhile dodge ram got passed by the toyota? I was thinkiing the Ram was #3 last year..
Ford: Number one selling truck in America
Ford = 335,269 units
Chevy = 274,869 units
GMC = 87,210 units
274,869 + 87,210 = 362,079 total GM trucks sold
362,079 > 335,269
I love how Ford plays with words to make it seem like they have the most popular truck in America... GM clearly has the more popular truck.
And what the hell happened to Dodge??? 163,094??

i'm surprised that with the high gas prices, trucks are still that high on the list...
Most truck owners that I know of, and about everyone I know owns a truck, aren't really that worried about gas prices, yeah we complain, but it isn't a huge problem. Me personally gas could go up to $3.00 a gallon before I seriously think about sellng my truck, and even then it will be a distant thought, it'd have to be more like $3.50 a gallon before I would go back to something other then a V-8 again.

my 81 scottsdale gets about 8-10 miles to the gallon... needless to say, it doesn't get driven much... granted the newer trucks get better mileage with fuel injection and all but still $40+ to fill a tank. i'll stick with my fuel sipping 4 banger.
One word why pick-up sell in large volumes: Fleet.
Sales have been going down compared to same time last year on big trucks/SUVs.
If GM made just made one pick-up "Silverado" Ford would not be chanting best selling as you can see from the charts and as others have posted..

Is the Toyota Corolla still considered to be the same as the Toyota Matrix in this list?
I think that's unfair honestly, but if the Corolla alone sold that many models then I'm impressed.

well, I am guessing that Ford F series are at the top because it consist of the ford 150, 350 and what ever other models the F series has. When you put that into the comparison of other automakers only have one model for their model name.
Oh and Ford does sell more trucks than GM considering GM has more than one product line that sells trucks when Ford only compete on the Ford trucks. GM has Chevy and GMC. I don't see a Merkury truck, if they have Lincoln or Merkury truck, then I think Ford will win.

Why, because trucks are on top of the list? That's because the F-150 or the Silverado is better then a economy car in every way, except fuel consumption.
Just because you are too cheap to drive a real vehicle doesn't mean that everyone is.
