Hi Everyone. I need some serious help. Just recently purchased
a set of 17" wheels (rims/tires) off a dodge Magnum SXT. When
they arrived, they were missing their tires (The seller lied, and he
used a photo of a rim/ tire package; moreso, he left no disclaimer
that the tires were not included). Suffice it to say, I have a claim
opened with paypal because the seller is utterly uncooperative.
It gets worst (and here's where I need some help)... upon further
inspection (when I calmed down), I noticed that these 17s were
Polished aluminum NOT machined aluminum, and they looked
remarkably similar to 2005 Durango wheels. This would mean
that the bolt patterns are different and that will not fit my Jeep
(magnums use 5x114.3, Durango's use a 5x139.7 pattern).
Moreso, these rims are 17x8 while magnum wheels should be
17x7 (even their 18s are only 7.5" wide).
I pulled these numbers from inside the rims 52855341AA, and
5JF60TRMAA. Can anyone please back my claim. Did the
2005 Magnum ever come with 17x8 polished aluminum wheels?
please help.

Its eBay item no. 4549835813 right?
1. The title of the auction says wheels, no mention of tires.
2. The description of the auction specifically states that the items for auction are wheels. It mentions it twice, no mention of tires at all. You are bidding on wheels only.
3. Did you email the seller and ask if the tires were included? No?
4. Therefore the seller is only lying if they are not magnum wheels.
5. What do you expect for $200?
6. If the auction said it was for wheels and showed a picture of a complete Magnum, would you expect to get a whole Magnum?
7. The guys feedback is absolutely awful. Why deal with someone like that?
I can't help you w/ part numbers and stuff--- but I saved pics of both the durango & Magnum wheels and put them side by side.
<img src=http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/221000-221999/221177_183_full.jpg>
It looks like the magnums bolt pattern is a little tighter and closer to the center of the wheel... The durango lugs looks like they extend into the spokes just a little bit.
Also, dodges site doesn't list a polished aluminum wheel for the durango...
A. 17-inch wheel covers are standard on SXT
B. 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels are standard on SLT, Adventurer, and Limited
C. 17-inch chrome-clad cast-aluminum wheels are available on Limited
Hope that helps...
<img src=http://www.consumptionjunction.com/i/default03.gif>
Also...
With the auction showing a picture of rims & tires calling the item wheels- I would assume they came w/ the tires also..
He even mentioned they only have about 2500 miles on them. I consider wheels without tires, rims...
Its not a wheel without tires.
<img src=http://www.consumptionjunction.com/i/default03.gif>
The guy sells used rims that he hardly knows anything about.
He cannot have possibly that many cars, and they're all off of newer vehicles.......
Thief? Either that or he owns a tire shop and keeps the old rims from the customers.
Either way, I wouldn't trust that guy with my life...... however, I would have assumed it came with tires too.
Just don't put it off. Once you wait too long eBay and Paypal pretend like they can't help you anymore, I had to find this out the hard way.

01) First. How would you know the item number when
I made no mention it? The listing wouldn't be available
for public inspection once the auction is closed. I didn't
even give you my eBay ID. Are you related to this guy?
02) Secondly, New magnum rim/tire packages go for
300us on eBay, 200usd for a used set is par. Moreso,
no one uses mileage to describe rims -- only tire tread
wear
03) Thirdly, the photo shows a rim/tire package and
most everyone on eBay uses the word "wheels" to
describe rim/tire packages (unless the photo, text
description , or disclaimer state otherwise.) Its the
sellers obligation to make the listing clear. Further
still, once I paid the guy, I emailed him and told him
how to fill out the claims forms for the "rims/tires";
I purchased from him, he made no effort to contact
me, and correct my assumptions regarding the tires

Thanks for the help RedDevil. I checked the Dodge
site to confirm the wheel design difference between
the magnum and the durango. Afterwards, I went to
tires.com to double check the lug patterns. They say
that 05 Durango is 5x139.7 while the magnum is
5x115 (5x114.3)
I totally agree with you too MiKeDiRnTRuLeZ, I filed
a claim immediately with paypal. You can't delay
with those people...

1. Its is not hard to figure out what you bid on. Any eBay member can look at closed auctions. They can easily be found using the search for approx. two weeks and up to 90 days if you have the item no.
2. Well, maybe it would have been better to pay $300 and deal with someone who has better feedback, even though the seller may not have done anything wrong in this auction. I realize hindsight is 20/20 however.
3. I just did a check of people selling Magnum wheels. If they include the tires they say rims and tires or wheels and tires. Not just wheels. Please show me one auction where the tires are included and they say only "wheels". You might be stretching it just a wee bit. Go to a tire shop, tell them you want a set of wheels. When they mount new wheels and not the tires, go balistic! Tell them wheels include tires! The seller did make the listing clear. He said wheels. No mention of tires, or any kind of package. If the listing is not clear to you, it is your obligation of clarify things with the seller *before* you bid.

... interesting. I did not know that feature applied to third
parties that didn't have the item previously bookmarked,
or not privy to the item number... suspiciously interesting.

maybe.... and maybe I could pay 750usd for a chromed set,
950usd for R/T wheels, 1200 for for chromed R/T wheels, etc.
The auction looked like a good deal at the time, and I am an
educated bidder. I watched several auctions prior to bidding
on this one. That's the premise behind eBay Joe -- hunting for
a good DEAL. See what I mean?

the listing WAS clear Joe. OEM dodge magnum SXT wheels,
NOT dodge durango SLT rims that have a different finish,
style, and lug pattern than that the magnum wheels in the
auction. Seriously what's not to understand ???
Re: my wheel comment. I will agree that descriptions vary. At
the time of my bid there were several other merchants listing
wheels and including the tires. Moreso, look at the auction
listing -- a lowely photo of the rim/tire on the concrete. If you
can honestly tell me that you see that photo and don't see
tires than I give up. The photo was of one(1) wheel (rim/tire),
was I obligated to email the seller and ask him 21 questions
like: "are the other 3 wheels physical or metaphorical?" I did
contact the seller and asked him about the quality of the rims
and tires before bidding.... he gave me no indication the tires
were not included; However, when I confronted the seller after
the rims arrived. He said "who gives a crap about the photo
I used"
I'm not taking the blame on this one. I would like someone
stateside, however, to help me verify the rim numbers I listed
above.

If they are *not* Magnum wheels you obviously have a case.
But don't expect tires where someone is auctioning wheels only. I have seen the picture.
When people selling tire and wheels together they don't say "wheels" they say "wheels and tires".
Wheels do not include tires. Look it up in your dictionary. I mean really, if there was a picture of the whole Magnum and he said he was selling "wheels" would you honestly expect to get the tires too?
Its funny, but you never mentioned the sellers email to you in any of your earlier posts.
the wheels in the auction look like the magnum wheels , going by the pics that red devil posted
the #s on the rims wont help you much unless you get some off the back of another wheel , cause they dont always coreispond to the actual dealer part # , as chrysler doesnt make their own wheels in alot of cases
best would be to take 1 wheel down to a local dealer and take pics of them side buy side with the wheels on the car they are susposed to be off of , and 1 from the car they are actual off of
and summit that to ebay , and report the guy , allthough i seriously doubt ebay will do crap about it , cause they never want to get involved , cause the sellers are making them money
if you got a polished wheel , over a machine finish or a painted/coated wheel , you got the better end of the deal
and id just relist them on ebay as the correct wheel application they go to and state they are polished , enjoy the profit , and move on

hahaha...
its funny how I didn't mention my pant size either dude.
I was trying to give you the basics... I had a very colorful
conversation with this misguided chap... allot of it was
far too remedial to unleash on the org.
BTW. I called my Chrysler dealer with the part numbers,
and the guy at the parts department said the numbers
are from a Durango. I guess it would be great to get a
second opnion from the org, and if someone here could
verify the lug patterns on the Magnum and Durango.
<A HREF="http://www.j-body.org/members/urbanyan/"><IMG SRC="http://www.j-body.org/registry/urbanyan/thumbnail_personal_pic.jpg" BORDER=0></A>
From Tirerack....
Magnum = 5 x 115
Durango = 5 x 139
It shouldn't be too hard to tell them apart.
other would be for you to post a picture of them so we can compair them to the 1's in his auction
people have given you the lug pattern several times
here you go man... left is the auction photo, right is the tripe he sent me
<A HREF="http://www.j-body.org/members/urbanyan/"><IMG SRC="http://www.j-body.org/registry/urbanyan/thumbnail_personal_pic.jpg" BORDER=0></A>
those are DEFINETLY NOT the same lug size.
although the picture can be decieving.
Durango Lug pattern = 6x4.5 or 5x139 depending on year.
The one's on the right are definitely the stock Durango Limited wheels, the ones on the left are the stock Magnum SXT wheels.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home

...I forgot to comment on this point earlier. Obviously when we
see a set of wheels for sale on a vehicle we're smart enough
to understand that the vehicle is not included; however, when
rim/ tire is presented in a photo without any other distractions
that becomes a completely different matter. In advertising
(I'm in new media advertising) that is called "Product is Hero".
It implies a "what you see is what you get" campaign. This
campaign requires disclaimers if items (such as tires in this
case) are implicated, yet not included.
BTW. I want to thank everyone else for their input. I broke out
a measuring tape, and I measured the direct center point of
one lug hole to the next. They're approximately 7.0cm apart
on a Magnum rim (5x115mm). They're roughly 8.5cm apart on
these rims (5x139.7).
<A HREF="http://www.j-body.org/members/urbanyan/"><IMG SRC="http://www.j-body.org/registry/urbanyan/thumbnail_personal_pic.jpg" BORDER=0></A>
Yeah....
The wheels you got are definately not the same ones in the pic from the auction.
The indent on the spokes on the wheels you got, go all the way around the lug hole-- whereas the auction pic- the indent tapers off before it reaches the center of the wheel...
Request the sellers information from ebay and call him up & bitch him out.

Urban:
Question, did you pay by Credit Card through pay pal?
If so, you are better off to call the CC company, tell them that you used the card through Paypal, and you got ripped off, they will investigate and withdraw the charge as soon as you confirm return shipment (send it by the most expensive means possible, and bill the guy back).
If you contact their fraud department, you should be good to go, and be certain to leave negative feedback on ebay so I don't have to risk dealing with this shyster.

This purchase set me back 500cdn. I had 100cdn in my
paypal account. I paid the remaining 400 through paypal
using my MasterCard. I'm not entirely sure if MasterCard
will help... once they treated me like a pariah when I
told them the purchase went through paypal. They told
me they cannot intervene because paypal is on the job.
Right now I have an open dispute setup with paypal.
According their process, the seller has a certain period
of time to resolve the issue with them directly. If the
seller fails to do so - paypal will award me a full refund.
The problem with that aspect is that they expect me to
pay for the return shipping out of my pocket (the wheels
were 202usd, and the shipping was 204usd). I need to
figure out what I will do about the return shipping if I'm
fortunate enough to receive a refund. How could I bill
the seller for return shipping? Any suggestions?

wow those are way wrong looking
the wheels in your sig look alot closer to the to wheels you were susposed to get
good luck with everything man
[quote=97cavie24ls(JDM cav sedan™)]
the wheels in your sig look alot closer to the to wheels you were susposed to get
yeah man. The wheels in my sig are the wheels I was
supposed to get. I got excited, chopped in some Jeep
center caps, and used them as my sig. I really like the
SXT rims, and this is tragic. I want to buy my stepdad
a Jeep Cherokee Sport this summer, and I was going
to pass along my 16" classic wheels to him... so in a
way, the whole fam was excited for this stupid wheel
package to arrive.
The seller has my blood boiling, he's so stupid that its
almost criminal.... and his lack of empathy is troubling.

Urban:
call mastercard up and tell them Horsesh!t. They can retract payment from PayPal just as easily as they can from an intermediary. They have to WANT to do it though. You give them your incident Report #'s, and if they still repeat that they can't pull their thumbs out of their asses, offer up a Visa with a 0% balance transfer rate for life from RBC Platinum Visa. They're not going to want to lose your 18%+ interest rate because of a $500 dispute.
Fill out a Squaretrade report (different than PayPal,) and an Ebay incident. You have buyer protection up to $2500 USD though Ebay.
Next time, I hate to say it, you should use ONLY your Credit Card because that way you have full protections from thieves, Paypal being one of them.
PayPal is NOT a merchant account, and I don't know for certain, but I think what they've siphoned off of your bank account may be gone permanently, I haven't heard of them ever refunding money removed out of a linked bank account.
That's why it's best to just point the seller to
http://www.Charge.com and tell them to get a real merchant account, that way they don't have to worry about PayPal "freezing" their accounts and losing their auction receipts because of this. PayPal isn't regulated, so they basically have free reign to f**k over whomever they please because of that.
