So I'm looking to buy a new car in Feb 06....
Needs to be a Brand new car (06 models only)
but you can give me 05 models right now
needs to be a 2 door coupe (or like the saturns with the little rear doors)
Has to come as a manual
Has to have a sunroof
and has to be $27,00 or $28,000 or under.
I am looking currently at a RSX-s, Cobalt SS/SC, and Scion Tc.....I want sporty, but good overall.....(Has to have more HP than the current Cavy too 140hp)
I guess thats about it, What are the options and what are your recomendations?
Thanks for any help.
Everything LOUDER than everything else!!
RSX-S.
05 Sunfire, Ecotec, 5 speed, Electric Blue
Style = Rsx type S
Speed = Cobalt SS
Resale = Scion TC
I would choose the RSX-S without a doubt! Good overall, excellent resale value, 210hp.
Just test drive them all and pick the one you like best. Thats my advice. The tC is nice my friend has one, you get a lot of equipment for your money it has 20 more hp and about 10lbs feet more of torque than your Cavy. Plus you could get TRD supercharger if needed more power. I'm a fan of the Cobalt SS, the RSX-S doesn't have enough torque for my tastes and I didn't care for the styling refresh. Although, if you got the SS the first thing I'd do is removed the wing and replace it....

I'd go look at the new Eclipse V6

Good point! Forgot about those!
SRT-4 is that an option? You could go with the Stage II upgrade and put it into your financing. The new mustang GT's can be had for around 27k.
Personally i'd go RSX-S or SRT-4 Stage II the SRT will be fastest out of the box.
Of the 3, I'd say RSX-S.
I would humbly go with the Pontiac G6 Coupe, or Mercedes C230 Kompressor. If money were the concern, tC.

If you can get one for this price (not exactly sure what they go for) then the mazda rx-8
Darc Man he has a V-6 Cavalier so the tC has less torque then his current Cavi.
My personal preference would be RSX Type-S, nice looking cars, excellent top end, and pretty damn good reliability. But I would also test drive all three of them and then make my decision, you never know you may not like the driving position of any of the cars.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
for $27k you can get a base model 350Z 290hp If I had that much to spend on a car I would be looking for something a little nicer than a scion.

My bad you are right. For some reason I thought he had an Eco based Cav. Well in that case I recommend getting supercharged tC if he goes with the the TC. I don't know if you'd be able to find one to test drive though. If handling is your thing, you'd probably be choosing between the SS and the RXS-type S. I had forgotten about the new Eclipse. If its in his price range it is surprisingly quick for 3500lb car. Anyway test driving them all is the best option as Saint said, any of the cars could have a driving position that rubs you the wrong way.

mazda6
i know its not a 2 dr....but loaded out can be had for that much money ( mazdaspeed6 is also coming...i dunno how much but
Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
up to about 27k you could get alot of cars
a GTO or a new mustang GT(if gas isnt a probelm) the cobalt ss s/c, ION Redline, and the rsx-s are good all around out of the factory cars, a non sti WRX would also fall into that all around good car, SRT-4 has 4 doors but is pretty much the best bang for the buck you can get performance wise but quality is low, lexus is coming out with a new is300 which will probably be ur price range, and toyota has the fun to drive celica
Test drive the Ion-Redline..
Dark blue 2002 Z24, 2.4 Ltr.

You could probably buy a brand new Cavalier with what you will loose on depreciation in the first few years. And then add to that increased finance and insurance charges.
Of course, if you really enjoy the car, and plan on keeping it forever, and have nothing else to do with your money, then it doesn't matter.
'06 RSX will be the fifth year without any redesign.
Cobalt - wait for improvements and rebates.
unfortunatly cavaliers are now replaced by cobalts
I'm biased COBALT SS S/C!!!!!!! All the way! LOL RSX-Type-S is very nice, look into Subaru WRX's, the Lexus IS300's are awesome there are so many nice cars out there just look around, your bound to find one!
I'm partial to the SRT-4. IMO that's the best deal out there for hp.
if you had cash, you could prolly get an Evo for around 27-28K.. theyre only 32K new in WI, so if u had some dough, they'd prolly let ya take it off their hands.
Otherwise, i like the new Civic SI (not the egg lookin' one), or the new mustang (mmmmm), or i think i saw the new Eclipse V6? i agree, that's nice.
but if i had 28K, the LAST thing i would be lookin' at would be a scion, or a cobalt...
or yea, a base model 350z would be nice.
I'm tellin' Uncle Ben!! You stole his RICE!!
"premiere cavalier" coming soon to a street near you!!
No way you get a brand new evo for 27-28, they aren't going to budge that much on price usually. Slightly used, probably yes though.
This is a tough category though. There are lots of cars grouped in. You coud swing a 350 z for the price, but good luck finding one that cheap....especially an 06.
Usually thats a tough range. There are a lot of cars which say they start there, but in reality its going to be hard to get a bottom line base price on a car in that range. Also keep in mind registration, tax, those sort of things adding to the price.
I'd rather get the rsx over all the smaller 2 doors listed. Its got a good interior and feels nice. it may be a little slower compared to some others, but wins certainly in over all class.
Are you set on 2 doors only? There are some sweet cars which are 4 in that range. Mine, Legacy GT is in that range. Another thought could be a slightly used evo, sti, 3-series, E36 M3, loaded 350z all with fairly low miles. What is the weather situation?
Lots to think about.
Just a recomm but the honda accord v6 3.0 liter 240hp loaded ex u can get for the price ur looking at spending.Wife's got a 04 4dr we love it.And the current body style is only 2yrs old design wise.
RSX Type S... HANDS DOWN! The car literally has no flaws or design flaws. The interior was so awesome when I sat in one. ahhh such a great car.
