I'm looking at buying a convertible. This car is going to be my daily driver, so I want something decent, it also needs it to be a stick and under 7-8 grand(I don't want a car payment because I'm in the market for a house). Some cars I'm considering:
89-93 mustang 5.0 lx conv
94-95 mustang gt conv
older miata convertible
93-97 z28/ta conv
Any input or other suggestions or input will be appreciated
Depends what you want. Just a daily driver I'd go Miata. Straight line car or track Id go 93-97 F-Body. Plus if your in the market for a convertable, it'd be nice if you had one that got the top resently replaced or was garage kept.
Mustang 89-93 love the body style
Warning: Your sig is in violation of rules 4, 5 and 6. Change it before you post again.
nissan 240 vert
maybe a 300ZX if you're really lucky.

89-93 mustang 5.0 lx conv (if you plan on modding it good choice lot of options and the parts for these are pretty cheap since they where made for so many years, otherwise not likely to find one with good mileage but these motors are good to 200k-250k easily!)
94-95 mustang gt conv (almost the same as above some special parts since they where only made for 2 years with the 5.0 If you have any sn95 questions let me know I own a 95 Cobra)
older miata convertible (not AS practical for a daily drive no back seat and small which may be a pain depending on your size)
95 Cobra

What about a convertable Z24. I just sold my 00 for 7K, it was a nice ride

no offense, but worst body style. IMO, but i like the 5.0
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
I'd shop around for a 98+ low miles J convertible...none of those will give you decent mileage for a daily driver...you can get a 99 J 5 speed vert, for less than 7k, and they're plenty reliable...I got 104k and still kickin....just get low miles, maintain it properly, don't drive like a complete moron, and you'll hardly have any repairs...
miata with detachable hard top. no need to worry about people slicing it up
Just tossing this out there, but I've always liked the Infiniti M30 convertable.
Pretty classy, and if you ever decide to make it a little faster, N/A 300ZX engine, 240SX suspension, and Infiniti-class interior.

Oops, should have clarified.
It has: N/A 300ZX engine, 240SX suspension, and Infiniti-class interior. So aftermarket parts are readily available.

for the price the newest/best shape vert your gonna get is a z24 drop top.....not to many cars in that cheap price range came with that option
butt id get the f-body otherwise
Maybe look at the 89-92 Z28/Iroc. Might have some upside in the future from a resale standpoint.
Also 91-92 Trans Am.
No j bodies, they're nice and all, but I'm not a fan of the 2.4, the resale, and 5 spd convertibles are very hard to find . I have a 02 ls sport that I'm tired of, so it wouldn't make much sense to buy the exact same car. I want something that is fun, has decent power, and can be modified fairly cheap. I have a 4x4 toyota truck for winter, so I'm starting to lean towards mustang/f body. I'm going to go look at some miatas this weekend, never driven one...
A 3rd gen f body wouldn't be too bad, my last car was a 91 T/A. I'd consider one with the LB9 a 5 spd. Sucks that they only came 305's
I'll keep a look out for some 240's, I imagine a convertible one with a 5 spd would be a tough find.
thanks
Convertible for under 7 grand? Haha how about couple years old crotch rocket?
Oh wait you said daily driver... nevermind.

i disagree, late 70 stangs were horrid.

ex boyfriend has an 5.0 lx vert...yeah, it was fast but it was cold in the winter and the trunk lid is God aweful ugly
personally, why not just go for a 00+ Z24 vert...only thing I would do is at least change the rims since they only came with the LS ones and not the Z24 ones
I'll sell you my 2k Z24 for 6,500!
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.
