OK I bought my friend's 1988 Civic DX hatchback for 500 bucks. It's in very good condition and was well maintained. The only problem with it is that it needs a new clutch assembly which I'm currently getting fixed/replaced for 450 bucks. I plan to drop in a B18 engine by the end of summer and boosted by the end of fall. Just thought I'd post up about it. laters!
eh, im not a fan of the "box" civics. those are some cool pans, im more than sure thats going to haul ass, but its just the look of the car i dont like. good @!#$ tho, and good luck will your plans
thank you and have a good day

Thanks LunchBox. Yeah I didn't buy the car for looks per-say. I just bought it to tote around in and be able to haul @$$ at the track. Plus it's a blast to drive right now even with the little D series engine in it
A decent, movable car for $500 ain't bad in any respect

I paid $750 for an 88 Ford Escort with 90,000 miles

Pics will come the day I go to pick the car up from my mechanic's garage. The clutch assembly is being replaced and it's also getting an inspection done.
Nice find. Are you doing the motor swap yourself or having it done? I should warn you its a bitch wiring the thing up for an 88-91. You have to convert it to SiR, then back to Si to get the stuff working right. If you're doing it yourself I can put you in touch with a guy who has a 90STD hatch with a B16 swap in it. He can tell you all the problems he ran into.
Obviously, money isn't a real big issue with you if you're going to do a B18 swap and a turbo. Just drop a K24 in it =P Yes I said K24 not K20.
I agree....a K24 would be sweet. I almost got beat by an 88 turbo hatch.....scared the crap out of me. Luckily it wasn't a turbo swap
I would've gotten my rear handed to me lol
I need a sig
Sweet.... I had an '89 DX hatch that I was going to swap in a JDM engine after the stocker died, but then I after I bought my GTO I decided to get a truck for my beater... they are definatetly fun cars, and surprisingly roomy inside. Mine would haul around 5 people no problem.

the wiring isnt that bad. u have to convert dual point injection on the DX's to multi point. (what the Si has) u dont have to convert it to SIR cuz your putting in a B18. non vtec.
stock up on distributors....................my 89 hatch ate them like crazy...only thing you can do is replace them and they want like $300 at the junkyards.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
