I drove it tonight. It was awsome. I loved everything about it, and i am the kind of person who will try to find fault with something. I had it at 0ver 180km/hr before the salesman got antsy, but it didn't feel like i was going that fast. Also, i don't know what people are talking about when they say that the car is gutless because it has no torque, i found it difficult to keep traction throught the first 3 gears. The top end is where i was driving for most of the test, the top end is great: it delivers power smoothly and consistently and doesn't seem to have any dips in the power curve. It also sounds good at 8000RPMs. The interior is nice and the seats are comfortable.
The only thing stoping me from buying it is it's kind of expensive.35K CAD is quite a bit. Oh well, i'm test driving an Rx-8 tomorrow, fun Rev happy me.

I drove an '02 RSX-S a while back... that way I didn't feel bad about beating on it
It was sweet though... that redline is addictive.

Sold 2/2/05
The type-s is a nice car. Its ok not real fast, but responds to mods very well.
The car really feels neutral and light doesn't it.
I here ya about the comment on people say its gutless and no torque. The engine makes acceptable torque for its size with sky high power. I think thats a good strategy for FWD. I test tracked the 2003 and 2005, both were excellent, the 05 was little better overall. When you go through that rev band, it feels like boost was unleashed.
I here ya on your thoughts on this car, Honda has a good product with this.

Glad to hear you guys like it.
I'd like to test drive an 05, to see how the extra 10 hp and the short final drive help the car.
Most of the people who say it's gutless at lower rpms just look at the 142 ft lbs @ 6000rpm (143@7000(?) in the 05) and think gutless low end without even driving it.

I ran a stock 05 in my daily driver that thing is pretty damn quick, it took me by 2 cars by 115. I'm thinken of throwin a downpayment on one if I can get rid of the supra and lude.
In Boost, We Thrust...
one question though...did they fix the problem they were havin with the trannies? I remember back in 03 my friend was lookin at one and some people were tearin 2nd gear out if i remember right....
My 04 RSX-S is a very well rounded ride. Once a person drives one, they realize why it is considered one of the best front-wheel drive cars ever made.
The transmission problem with 2nd gear in my opinion is an abuse problem. If you get the one's having problems to confess, they will say they may have been hard on their trannies (example: not letting the transmission warm up before beating the living crap out of it.) With any mechanical system, it will not operate or perform properly until it is at optimum operating temperature. This abuse at low temperatures can cause premature wear or failure of pieces.
There are great improvements on the 05's, namely the seats. They are now made with more supple leather and more cushion, which is needed for long trips. Type-R final drive and K20A engine (except for pistions) is very nice as well. The new engine code is a K20Z1.
Good luck on the purchase. You may or may not like the RX-8. Give us your review on it when you get back from your test drive.

2005 rsx type s is very nice. Love the handling. Took my friends b18c civic from dead start.
^^^ok, now WTF is that. no name? is that allowed?. i mean on offense you sound cool but. we are getting an influx of trolls with blank profiles on the .org lateley.
and to stay on point. i was so goning to get one til the deal on my RX came up. they are a great car, and this is the first i've ever heard of a problem with the trannies. i live in cold michigan and know plenty of type-s owners and never heard they have 6-speed problems.
the car is plenty quick enough, it's far from a dog. it just doesn't have that cool low-end that J-body guys are used to. i love that low-end grunt from my j-body, but it sadly puts all it's power right there and that's it. the RSX has a sweeter and longer powerband.
i cant stand the way the RSX looks, i thought the Integra was much much nicer...

yeah same here , I liked the integra much better....... i bet if they kept them on the market the 05's now would look nice..... I used to have a 97 it was a good car
2nd gear will be the first to go in almost any tranny cause its the one people shift the hardest into and it takes the most abuse.
