well just picked it up today
if i had a scanner i would hook you up
sorry
hmm i might have to get this....id imagie the srt-4 wining in most catagories but i bet the cobalt prob out handles it
I heard something about it.
Like if you had the decision in real life......to pick the Cobalt SS.
But if you were playing a video game......pick the SRT-4.
Whats a cobolt?
YEAH I WENT PREMIUM. SO BITE ME!
cobolt wins overall
due to faster track times and better decleration and such
srt-4 and bolt get near identical 1/4 time
cobolt 14.4@99.3 0--60 6.1
srt-4 14.4@100.8 0-60 6.0
both engines green
also talks of future gm performance mods to come out later this year
cobolt ss needs rear swaybar also according to them
pretty good read
yea i read that today while i was in borders, i still dont get how they ran the same times, 235 hp vs 205 but cool they favored in the cobalts direction. The cobalt is sounding like a better car everytime its mentioned.
cobolt revs faster
better tires
also the dodge motor was under 5k miles so one would assume they both are
they just mention the dodge because its half a click of the two others they tested
that magazine sucks if they put an srt4 at 14.4, and cobAlt at 14.4 also. if the car really runs that then i am impressed. but no doubt the srt has more potential on stock turbo than cobalt does on sc, and how many people really get around to upgrading?? like 2%.
LOL no you didnt, you cant even spell the car right, your pathedic.

The guy had a typo, how does that make him pathetic?
Wait - thats right, you were the loser that got flamed in the other Cobalt thread for talking out of your ass. Looks like your at it again...
And as L61 said, the reason the SRT-4 ran a 14.4 @ 100MPH was because the car wasn't completely broken in yet. Of course the first thing out of your mouth it "that magazine sucks" - real intelligent comment..
If the SRT-4 was broken in, I'm sure it would have ran about a 14.0-14.2 at about 102MPH, like most do. Of course the Cobalt wasn't broken in either, so it was at a similar disadvantage. Overall though the numbers seemed pretty accurate - definitely a nice review.

most redlines and cobalts are dynoing at around 211-215 whp, so that makes them 235 - 240 crank as well

and you just spelled PATHETIC wrong you dip@!#$
I saw a review on motoring 2005 that said the Cobalt ss superchaged was "funner" that the SRT4, a little slower but still a better drive.
AmazingJay
forgot to mention
the cobalt runs on regular
srt-4 premium
^^^ That is nice to know with the way gas prices are. that is one thing that would make me concider a Cobalt over the SRT-4.

it runs on regular? weird. What is the compression ratio of the cobalt?
definetely a good forum, glad to hear that.... I was considering the 2, but must go into further investigation.......... im aiming towards the SS
Yea im gonna have to favor the cobalt in this one, and once the so called "stage kits" are out like dodges kits, the cobalt will be capable of ..........well im not gonna put numbers cuz i dont know but lets just say it will impress us.
crackajax wrote:it runs on regular? weird. What is the compression ratio of the cobalt?
Yep, it can run on regular just fine. The compression ratio is 9.5:1, but you have to remember that its also supercharged, which increases the amount of air in each combustion cycle - therefore it is actually higher than 9.5:1 when F/I is factored in.
GM recommends that you use premium (91+) octane fuel, however, it is not necessarily required. The trade-off is a "power loss that can be noticably felt by the driver" when 87 octane is used
As for the SRT-4, I believe it only runs on premium fuel, no exceptions.

i wouldnt reccomend using the regular gas. you'd probably get some bad knock, which can be pretty bad for an engine. i've heard of some GTP's seriously hurting their internals, and their compression ratio is only somewhere around 8 : 1. thought i dont know how much boost the cobalt is putting in there. just my $.02

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
