Just want to see if I'm on the right track here. My wife's coworker has a grand am with a 2.2l eco in it. It will run sometimes and just not start others. I could sometimes here the fuel pump running but not sure other times the chime when turning the key on is so loud. I tried changing the relay and it did no good. There is a chatter noise coming from the relay but I tried several relays with the same outcome. I hooked a pressure gauge up to the rail and only could get fuel pressure once. Where should I go from here?
I would make sure you are getting power to the fuel pump when the car doesn't have fuel pressure.
On my 95 is was a grey wire in a plug in the driverside kick panel.
- Your not-so-local, untrained, uncertified, backyard mechanic. But my @!#$ runs
sounds like a ground issue.
The relay is actually triggered by ground, and so is the fuel pump.
