I have put 2 brand new catalytic converters on my 06 chevy malibu 2.2ecotec and the code p0420 is still coming up. i am currently getting 33 miles to the gallon so i dont quite understand how the converter can be bad. im not exactly rich so its hard to just take it to a shop and ask them to find the problem. it is a long job and am tired of going through the trouble of warrantying it out and doing the job. any suggestions on what else it could be? oh and there are 2 brand new oxygen sensors in there as well. i warranty them out at the same time.
converters were not bad you need downstream sensors, or there is a problem in the wiring.
Yeah, I would have done some research before replacing cats at the price they go for.... Sounds like it's simply the sensor gone bad.

oh, trust us, we know
exactly. It is a sensor. It could be your primary sensor, but not sounding like it with your good gas mileage.
