Yes it mounts in the trunk lid. Next to the First Aid box. I'll take some pictures later today.

I was looking into a e60 for a while.
I drove one with an n54 and loved it.
But I loved the sound that came from the 545i I drove with a magnaflow exhaust.. You would never expect that sound to come out of the car. lol
I will tell you one thing, a down the road I will buy a e60 m5...
The s85 is my favorite motor
