i bought a 2006 cobalt ss.
i have always been facinated by the corvette grand sport.
and figured since by balt is blue, i would make it look
like a grand sport.
what do u guys think?
i know this is not the greatest as i used MS Paint...but
these pictures are not of my own cobalt, but of ones i found on css.net
and google images. lol.
the inspiration:
the dream:
and someone that did a little better of a job's cleaner looking than mine lol although a lil diff than i asked/wanted:
Keep it stock paint wise(everyone loves that color why ruin it), lower it, and keep the wheels ONE color...Done!
Spend the money on a supercharger, you till go from 150 hp to 225hp...
Yeah, I agree, that honestly... doesn't look good. Put your money toward other goodies for it, like the lip kit is a must!

There is no supercharger kit for the 2.4 Eco....
Hahn Racecraft Turbo !!!!!
Will it make you hit 300?

but i really wanna get that Hahn kit for it!

well, if it was turbo'd would it be more worthy?
if any thing use vinyl so if you don't like the look you can take it off
go for it if you really like it but imo, looks like crap
14.4 @ 101 Bradenton Motorsports Park 11/22/08
I never liked the corvette GS paint scheme. I think the photoshopped cobalt looks a little less ugly than a Corvette GS. But if you care about what others think of your car (which you shouldn't unless you compete in car shows) then I would advise against it. Take that as you will.
I have no signiture
meh, not a fan, spend some time over on gmdelta!
slvr05cav wrote:Yeh, $13k-14k you will have a 13 sec Cobalt sleeper !!
is that incuding the price of paint for this paint job?
im hoping the hahn kit gets me somewhere close to that!
stock is 15.7 for the automatics. my friend has one the G5 GT tho.
5speed. his with full exhaust and intake got him almost a sec faster.
he did a [15.5 stock for manual.] he did a 14.7, and then with a tune, he
did a 14.4. so they take to mods pretty good. so im hoping to see amazing
results with the turbo! at 8psi the han kit says 350hp. sounds good to me
at 8psi i can keep stock internals.

No. That GS paint scheme is a original for a Corvette. IMO it should stay that way. But it is your car/money do as you wish.
ahh, i see. but its a baby corvette!!!!

thats what i was thinking...but idk. paint would be much better. im prolly gonna try it with vinyl first, and if i like it,
then i will get it done in paint.

first of all, amzing name! hahaha. but thanks. lol. i really dont care what people think. its just for me. i just wouldnt have thought there would be all this hate i thought people would think it would cool. caz the cobalt, at least to me, is a baby corvette. with an engine with half the cylinders, and the similar shapped tails. and guys with balts and cavaliers always are putting the GS style fender stripes on their cars...so i just thot i would take it further, and do my balt all the way up with a full GS paint scheme, get the GS badges and all that...but then i found out on CSS.net that the 2.4l SS's in Arrival Blue are like unicorns. so 9i have a pretty rare model. now its deturring me from doing this! im not sure now! lol. but i dont think the car would ever be show winning material. but would have liked to show it like that. and maybe find some GS meets once it gets boost, and see if it can run with those big dogs. should be able to. the auto 2.4s run a 15.7 in the 1/4 stock. so i hope i can do at least a 14 sec with boost if not faster! lol. these GS vettes do a 13.7 in the 1/4.

is there alotta people on GMD? im on CSS.net rite now. tons of people there! lol.

Umm just because there is no kit doesn't mean it cant be done, and a lot cheaper than the hahn turbo kit.
I would add a lip kit and turbo/supercharge the car. I think a turbo would be too much for you...

i actually think there is a kit, or at least someone has S/C the 2.4 tho.
not 100% on that tho... but jmarks man, did u end up getting a balt yet? if so,
what did ya pick up?
and whats this whole turbo being too much for me? u talkin
price, cant handle the power, or maybe not bein able to install it? the price, as i said, thats
like half of what i paid for the car! its gonna be quite a while before i have like $5k again! as for power,
my balt doesnt have enuff yet. its sorta quick for stock...but its not fast enuff for my tastes. and i i had $4-5k
at the time, i woulda just bought a SS/SC. i could deff use, and be able to handle extra ponies. if u ment the install,
efff no i couldnt prolly do it myself. if i did it, it would take like a month to put it in. and this is my DD, i cant do that. it needs to
be done in a weekend, by someone who knows what they are doing. luckily, i have a local friend who knows all about that stuff, and can even tune it for me! ...i dont even have the tools to do that kinda build! i have basic tools. lol
no GMD is dead, that's y you should go help out!
Yeah i was talking more install. I personally wouldn't want a higher hp dd, just because of the maintenance and the problems that can arise. 350 hp is alot in a fwd car, for anyone. I wasn't talking about money or you being able to handle it, its just something that I wouldn't recommend unless you have another car. Like I said I would supercharge, throw a 2.8" pulley, and cooling mods and be able to run low 14's high 13's all day everyday very reliably and have about 250 hp
I ended up with a 06 ss/sc, same color. I got a really good deal on it. I also got that wingless trunk off that guy in Cleveland. I am going to run a 2.8 pulley, big heat exchanger, custom ice box, dual pass, pacesetter header, gmpp exhaust and some coil overs. It is my dd so it won't get anything too major just yet. I am in the process of selling the cav and all the parts that I have.
blucavvy wrote:no GMD is dead, that's y you should go help out!
lol. thats what i thot, thats y i went right to CSS.net.
i have no real help for them anyways...i just kinda lurk
around gathering info! haha
you do realize it will cost about the same for a decent paint job like that as a turbo kit? If you dont have the 4-5k for a turbo kit then you dont have enough to do the paint job the right way. Sounds to me like hopes and dreams. But there is nothing wrong have a direction to go and setting a goal. Best of luck
those chops are terrible.

Keep it clean.
They're alright cars, 8 months into owning mine though I know it won't stay around too long. I love certains aspects but have grown old with others.
However mine has been dead-balls reliable and only thing giving me any issue is assumed with some mileage and power.
