99 Cougar Help
Monday, September 28, 2009 9:40 PM
Ok so my friend has a 99 Cougar that he has been having problems with left and right. It is the base model auto.

Well his old engine blew up(with little miles add) and he swapped it out with another stocker. Well now he sais it is shifting funny and he keeps saying it is prbly a sensor somewhere, which is possible, but i am trying to tell him he should get it tuned.

What do you guys think? Sensor, tune, tranny? what? lol i feel bad for the guy. he loves his car but he just has problem after problem with it and he works his ass off to own it. I mean.. he is still paying on it! lol

thanks guys

check the simple things first and foremost. could be something as easy as needing tranny fluid or a tranny fluid flush.

Look into the Transmission Range sensor. Also it wouldn't hurt to drain and replace the fluid.

I have the solution for all Cougar-related issues:

1) Splash entire vehicle with gasoline

2) Add lit match

3) Buy new car.
