The new Genesis Coupe will be huge soon enough, good video for sure.

My point is that a couple new car's don't equate to a company "surprising the world". The first mention was talking about Hyundai's sales being up, well yeah when you have the largest incentives in the industry and inflate sales via fleet. I commend them for making the Genesis, but they still have a longggggggg way to go.

Hyundai's are crap, first decent car they came out with was the V6 tiburon and now the genesis which doesnt look that good for $40,000. hyundai is crap same with kia. poorly made IMO and look ugly.

Have you ever even seen one? If so driven one? How is it poorly made? I guess because its not made by GM is crap and poorly made right?
I liked the Genesis coupe until I saw in in person. Definitely fugly IMO, but regardless Hyundai has been making decent cars for a while now, just not the most appealing cars until recently.

You do realize that the Genesis Coupe can be had for about $25,000 well equipped, right? You just keep spewing at the mouth and badmouthing their quality. You obviously have no real world experience or knowledge about them.

One problem I see with Hyundai, from my own personal experience, is that the option packages are lacking (at least in Canada). You cannot get an Accent with side and curtain airbags with a manual trans. You can't get an Elantra with Premium package in manual trans. I understand that not many people who go for the top-end model will want a manual, but it's still the same basic car so is it really that difficult for them to offer it? Guess it must be. But if they ever do make the Elantra Premium available with a 5spd it will be at the top of my list.

not trying to defend their choice cause I agree with you but its pretty common to see things like that. A lot of companys that offer multiple engines in the same car only offer a manual transmission on the smaller engines or lower models. Typically (non sports car applications) it's because if your buying a manual trans its because you want to save $1,500 on the price of the car so they offer in the cheaper cars. I worked with a dude that had a BMW X5, he (his parents) bought it new and he got the 6 cylinder and then converted the exterior to look identical the V8 model because the the V8 only came with an auto, he had to buy the 6 to get a manual. Audi was the same way for a while, prior to the new S4 I don't think there was any V8 offered in a manual trans.
They are still crap, they make a cheap car which is all people can afford so of course they are going to sell more. They don't make a single thing that stands out as "best in class". I don't see anything on their cars that cries superior or well made.

i went and took a look at the Genesis Coupe and it dont do much for me. yea there makeing better cars then they where a few years back. but how will these cars run/look in a few more years. i have seen a ton of the last gen elantra running around with sun dryed headlights sounds like the motors going to fly out the hood and the paint fadeing off the wheel cover? how does that happen? to me theres a reason why there cheap. they may look nice at first but in a few years you will see why you paid the price you did. sorry but ill pass.

My cheap car is far and above the quality of any compact GM car i have owned or driven
and nothing on the cobalt screams best in class either, but according to your opinions, its pretty much god's gift to cars
The '09 elantra KILLS the cobalt, focus, + corolla in styling. About equal with the civic, but the mazda 3 still wins.
These hyundai bashers are the same twats that'll tell you a 1994 cavalier is better than a 1994 civic...because japanes crap sucks.

When we went to the Philly Auto Show, Hyundai really impressed us. Both from a price standpoint and a perceived quality stand point. They were also the last manufacturer we looked at so we had a chance to compare them to every other car we had looked at. Which was pretty much all of them. I came away from the day knowing that if I was to buy a new car, more than likely it would be a Hyundai.
Hell if they had a plant here, I'd be applying for a job.
