a little upgrade for the wifey :)

It's a 99 Town & Country we bought used last summer to replace our Durango we were getting tired of feeding. It's actually pretty sweet. It's the limited version, with full leather, 4 buckets, and an Infinity 8 speaker system. The old tires started losing air on a regular basis, and it ended up being that the rims were in such sh!tty shape from corrosion and chrome chipping that the beads woudn't seal, so it made a good excuse for an upgrade.

After scouring ebay for a month or so, I managed to score a set of 18" 08 Sebring rims. I had to machine out the center bore 4mm, but otherwise they fit perfect, and with the Chrysler logo, look right at home.

Before:

After:

Next on the agenda is replacing some suspension an brake components. Needs rotors, pads, bushings, ball joints, and struts. Looks like we'll probably go for some Koni Reds, and might even go for an Eibach ProKit. Neither of us can manage to leave a vehicle alone, regardless of what it is.

Yeah, they aren't exactly the best on this one. They were originally on the Durango, which was silver, and they looked better, but she wanted to keep them. I'm thinking of tinting the factory ones and seeing if she like those.

LOL. Neither of us have ever owned a vehicle we haven't modded. It's an addiction.

I always liked caravans (and the chrysler version), but please.... for the love of everything holy...
get rid of those terrible. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE tail lights. ANZO makes led tail lights for your
van... you should consider a set (or just go back to the factory set).

I agree...do the LED lights... they would look better than those euro 3d lights. I might get the explorer ones for mine. as far as the suspension goes, one of the car mags had a caravan that was lowered a little and it was red with grey stripes. it was turbocharged...cant remember what mag it was in but it was like 2 years back. It was nice for a mini van. Maybe you can research it and find out what they did with their susupension and do the same?

well I'll be... I know you said the van had durango tails, but I couldn't believe it.
Now that I did a new search for tails... I found even a cleaner looking set:

Item number: 120345461155. Only 99 bucks

I like those a lot. I'll have to show them to her, but for now, I need to deal with the suspension and brakes, because they are maintainence issues.

By the way, when we were looking at minivans last year, I found one on ebay that I really wanted to get, but the guy wanted too much for it. It didn't sell (at least on line), and it wasn't relisted, so I found another one locally. I would have bought it if he dropped the price. It was a 2000 Caravan, and the guy had built the engine (3.8 liter) to about 300HP, lowered it, put 12" dual piston brakes, 18" rims, and Viper bucket seats in it. It was blue with the white rally stripes on it, just like the Viper coupe.

Can you, at least, put the stockers back on for the time being?

That sounds expensive. How much was it?

It's up to her.

I'm actually not sure if we even still have them. The stockers from the van went on the Durango when it was traded, and these were purchased like 4 years ago, so I don't even remember if I sold the stockers on ebay or something. I might see if I can score some from a local yard that gives me good deals, but again, not a priority focus at the moment.

IIRC, it was starting bid of $12K, maybe even more, which is way high for that vehicle with the mileage it had, and as we all well know, a bunch of mods doesn't get much more, if anything, when you resell it. This is especially true when you're talking about something like a minivan, which has a primary market of soccer moms. I got this one for less than half of that. I might have paid 7-8 for the other one, but not 12.
