I currently have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo with 112k. Nothing wrong with it. I'm just bored with it. I put a 2.5 lift on it and some bigger tires but bever have taken it offroading. I was just browsing on craigslist and came accross something interesting. Its a 98 volvo s70 t-5. A little backround its black with black leather. All the options except a manual trans which is great. I miss my 05 cavy and manual trans. This has a 5 cylinder turbo engine. It has 236 crank hp and 245ft tq. 4 doors every option. I looked online didn't really see very many reviews.
Any one heard of these? any experience with them? Thanks in advance. Btw I'm posting this from my phone wife is on the xomputer. Thanks!
Personally I would stick with the Jeep. Than again, I'm partial to the brand

I forgot to add if I was looking at volvos from that time period, I would get a C70 coupe instead.
It has the same motor as the s70 you were looking at, and it looks 1000x better.

trade your jeep in on a cobalt. you too can have a high 13 second car for $9,000
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I used to own a c70 with the 2.3 hpt.
NIce engine and very reliable. Has a lot of potential if u want to spend some serious money. Mileage is kind of high but if u don't raise the boost too much you should be fine. Check out volvospeed.com With a 3" exhaust, custom intake and some tuning you should have a 4 door with plenty of power to keep up with a lot of the cars on the road.
thanks for the help. Im going to look at it tommorow. Thanks ill check that site out. Ill keep everyone posted.
i joined that site thanks for the help. Also what am i forgoting if i trade my jeep in I will have to sign the title over, take the tags off. Then do you have 30 days to register the new car and tag it? Since the car is older the property tax should be less and I would get a refund back then correct? my tags are due in july but i have already paid thru the end of july. So I assume I would get a refund back for the difference. Right?
I have no idea about the refund, call up the local dmv.
I'd trade it. Reliability and a better build quality make for a better car, and Chrysler products don't have either.
2010 Honda Fit LX
im going to ill post pics up tonight or tom. This thing hauls a$$ and ive driven some fast cars. There is almost no turbo lag. 5 gear even pulls really hard.
Would anyone be to concerned with a small bit of oil coming from the turbo? i mean a little bit is normal right?

The guy's looking to trade a 5 year old domestic, for an 11 year old import. That alone makes your ' reliability' argument moot.
I consider both my Jeeps reliable (bulletproof in some areas) plus I can get parts anywhere - cheap.
Where, exactly, am I going to get Volvo parts when I need them in a pinch? The stealership?

sorry i must have went over the post about being unreliable. There is nothing wrong with the jeep im trading it i havent had any problems what so ever. Other than wear and tear items, tires, brakes, rotors there has been no problems. Even though everyone always bashes on chrysler if you havent owned one why bash it? The only reason im trading it is its not my cup of tea anymore. I want something a little more sporty and the turbo and 5spd play a key role in that.
It sounds like the Jeep wasn't your thing from day one.
If you like the Volvo than buy it. Just keep in mind it's an 11 year old import (which means some maintenance will, most likely, be involved)

true but thats goes for any cars if you think about it. Im okay with normal maintence. The jeep was a great vehicle. No problems just wasnt for me. I fully understand what im getting into with the volvo. You gotta pay to play right? But for now ill keep it mostly stock and when i have some money saved up ill get some goodies. But as of right now its good!
the oil is probably from the turbo return line. IT is very normal with all volvo turbos especially on the 2.3. I acutally had to change mine. There is a great how to. Here is the link. Its a very easy job.

in some areas?
My family leased a 4 Jeep Grand Cherokees over a decade and the last 2 were garbage. They were bullet proof in some areas too. Like the motor ran but the trans slipped,
or how the on 2 different jeeps we owned the auto lights turned on by themselves at night and killed the battery.
Or how all the power locks worked except the drivers one...you know the only one that matters.
or how the radio caught on fire in my dads cherokee classic
or the cheap trim peices that broke of and rattled in just first year of ownership.
Or the power seats that stopped working in 3 of the 4 jeeps.
Or the transfer case that fell apart on my dad's 2nd cherokee classic.
or the door pannels that simply fall off in my dads 1st cherokee classic
Or the auto lights in one of our Grand Cherokees just shutting off when ever they wanted to.
Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge all suck. period. if one or 2 people have a good one thet doesn't make the story less true. For every one happy urban, i can find 100's of people that will never buy chrysler products again. I'm not hating on you or your happiness with the car, just realize you're in a minority.

I see... your folks had 2 @!#$ty Jeeps; therefore the entire Chrysler lineup's trash. That makes sense to me.
My sunbird was a rolling turd, and so was the safari van we owned beforehand. By your logic I contend all GM products are garbage.
Come to think of it, a guy I knew owned a Suzuki that broke down all the time. The whole Suzuki brand must suck as well.
Generalizations are fun.

Nope, i said for every one happy urban i can find 100's of people that will never own another Chrysler product.
It's not just my families 4 horrid jeeps. 2 cherokee classics and 2 grand cherokees were garbage. I stated out of the 4 GC's 2 were garbage.
I also work with a lady whos 2002 grand caravan is lieraly falling apart peice by peice.
My neighbors 2008 grand caravan that keeps having a dead battery that nobody at the dealership can seem to figure out. it's been towed to the shop 6 times in the 8 months she's bought it
my buddies 2 year old SRT-8 Grand Cherokee where none of the electric windows work any more every time they fix them one or all stop working again. Also his tail lights/brake lights work when ever they feel like it.
The girl next doors sebring that has blown 2 head gaskets and the head liner that is falling off.
Another nurse i work with's crossfire convert leaks and the foot wells fill with water, which blew a computer under one of the seats and killed the car. it had to be totaled, she bought another one and it leaked to, then blew a rear main gasket which in turn ruined the transmission.
My aunts pride and joy Liberty that has electrical failures every other month. my uncles 2007 Ram the dash lights didn't work for a while that was fixed under warranty, the radio then stopped, it was fixed, then the keayless entry stopped working it was fixed, he traded it for a Silverardo it's only problem over the last 2 years was a tail light bulb burned out a month into owning it.
...I could go on and on.
it's no secret Chrysler makes garbage...If you like yours that's fine. Just don't get mad when people point out the obvious.
My Z24 was a huge pile of crap, but i still like GM cars, i just under stand that certain models they make are garbage. Where as every model Chrysler makes is garbage, if it's not true than why are they in the most likely of the entire big 3 of going out of business? Because nobody wants their crap product.
BTW if you think Suzukis suck, that's cool, you're allowed to express that. Many of them do suck, that's no mystery, the difference is i can admit it and not take it personal.

its a volvo thing, you wouldn't understand
[size=3but seriously i like volvos and have ridden in some beastly quick ones]
damn send button.
Look man, it's obvious you hate Chrysler products. Stay away from them and stop telling people they're the worst thing on this planet. All brands have their issues... even Hondas and Toyotas. My last three vehicles were Jeeps.... some older, some newer. all great...so you can see why I take offense to someone whose implying
ALL Chryslers are garbage. They're not get over it.

wow.... Alright well I had good luck with mine and no a lot of others that did as well.
But any way good news. I got the volvo. I will start a new thread with pics to follow shortly. Thanks for the help everyone!
If Chryslers suck they're not alone. JD Power has them tied with MINI, Land Rover,Saturn,Suzuki,Mitsubishi,SAAB,and Scion,
Even the guy who started this thread said he had no reliability issues with his Jeep either, but if you want to monopolize this thread with your personal vendetta than by all means.. be my guest. I don't care.
