well originally i wanted to find an old mini and do a factory resto, but then i found this little guy. i think im going to finish the body off in a flat with a white roof. i havent really decided on a color, im going to sit on it and mess around on ps. its all straight except a dent in the trunk (finally an excuse to get a shrinking hammer). since the bumpers are already pretty much shaved i am not going to be able to make it look factory anyway. the interior is going to be color matched in tweed, and i am starting on doing a subtle 3d head liner with the austin emblem. the suspension is adjustable already so im prolly not going to bag it and just leave it where it is.

the engine and tranny have a fresh rebuild with recipts and a warranty so im not going to touch them, maybe try and find a mini donor for a manual transmission later on down the road. im going for "euro rat"

its different and i get looks everywhere i go in it.

I agree. Some decent wheels, fresh paint, and a k20, it will be awesome.

How is a K20 in an old beetle looking POS ricing it out or making it gay. Just because you riced out a gay EG does'nt mean you cant redeem yourself by dumping a K20 into this thing.

Stop sucking at life and DO IT, you wont do it.

yeah i guess i did rice my eg.... by leaving the body and interior stock and putting a b18 w/ b16 head, itb's, and a gsr lsd tranny in it.... so i do suck at life because i am not going to put an engine (that wont fit in the first place) into a classic, and ruining a numbers matching 1969 austin. everyone should start dropping vtecs in their new mini's too...

i am sorry man but you just sound kind of dumb.....

haha thanks kg, at least there are some real car guys still on here lol.

well i actually got the car on a lift today (forgot the camera, fail). the subframe is perfect, a little surface rust but no holes, i was pretty pumped. the suspension is also really cool, i can raise and lower it through valves under the bonnet, but it looks good and rides great sitting low so im going to leave it down.

the interior in the car is a little shaky right now from sitting in the arizona sun the last two years, which sucks because it was brand new. the seats are perfect just dusty the carpet was done cheaply anyway so redoing that would have had to be done anyway. the dash im still not sure whether i want to glass it with the factory chrome bezels or go for a classic tweed wrapped look.

i also have been calling around and searching for an austin mini with a manual tranny to do a swap but its not looking promising unless i bring it in from the u.k. for the money i could almost just get a mini s drive train and have a beast, but thats not really the way i want to go.

welll thats it for today ill get more pictures next time i go to the shop.

why put a B16 head on a B18?.. I'd like to see pictures... But yes..VTEC in the new mini's would be a great Idea since you cant even get 200 hp on 16lbs of boost. haha.

does someone want to give this guy a lesson on compression?

anyways lets get this thread back to the austin so it doesnt get locked, ill get some pictures up in a few days when i get back to the shop, any "smart" input or suggestions are welcome. i am keeping it classic and not doing an engine swap, just a cool little unique custom car.

What is your point? A honda gets it done naturally aspirated with compression and VVT.. and you mean to tell me a modified F/I mini cant get it done even on that high of a boost level? Pathetic.

I realized this immediatly when I seen the numbers, I posted a question to which the owner responded that I was "stupid" yet went on to tell the JBO that he pushes almost 3 times the boost amount for tune he does have.. I laughed.
