well, out of any ppl i have ever spoken to, you guys here seem to be the brightest when it comes to cars(mechanics near me suck).
i know you won't be able to tell me exactly, but i need ideas.
my gf's 04 corolla ce has ~55000 miles on it, and sometimes when she drives(rarely), her car seems to lose power, and her gas pedal gives her a lot of resistance...then 3-4 sec' later, its back to normal. her car has no trraction control, so that isn't why the power cuts off for a little, like on the cavalier.
so far, other friends i've asked said maybe carbon gettin stuck by the throttle, and jamming it, and another said she needs a tune up(i told her to get one already, but i don't think this is it).
anyone here have any ideas?
its still under warranty, but i don't think they can do anything, cuz there is no check engine light of anything like that, so they won't think anything is wrong. but this could be very bad if it happens like on an on ramp for the highway, or something like that.
thanks in advance
Dave
I'd get the tune up done and also do seafoam and then oil change. If its still under warrenty i'd take it in first thought cause they might do change some stuff for free so its less expense for you.
if ita under warranty, take it back, cel or no, they have to take a look at it. explain the problem. they'll road test it, and try to replicate the problems.

sorry, i'm really new to most of this stuff on the forum...what is seafoam?(...you're gonna tell me to just search, huh?)
thanks a lot for the help, guys, i really appraciate it.
well 1st off, is the 04 corolla drive by wire, or does it still have a throttle cable. Sounds like if its a throttle cable, it might be binding on something. If its drive by wire, could have a solenoid going, or bad wire connection.
id take it to the dealer, perhaps its a common problem, and they will know exactly whats wrong with it.

seamfoam is pretty much a liquid you pour into your throttle, vacuum line and gas tank and it clear out all carb deposit that sits in the motor
awesome, i'll get some and try it out.(i'm assuming most parts stores would have it?)
thanks a bunch!
is the floor mat bunched up under the gas pedal?
Rofl maybe it was just me
also, i would NEVER drive any car i intended on keeping for another day with any solvent (which seafoam is) in the crank case. yes, you can add it to the engine oil, but if you do, add it, run the engine five minutes, DO NOT REV IT, then change the oil and filter.

lol, i hate the way it is in her car...the gas pedal is like almost vertical, and its all the way down at like 45 degrees...if you drive for too long, your calf gets a cramp. of course i exaggeratted, but you get the idea.(and more than 1/2 hour gives a cramp) would've been funny if it just was carpet though, lmao.
