My winter project
Next is a rotating assembly to make it a 402
and patriot heads

anyone have a connection on aftermarket heads? trying to NOT drop 2500 on a set of heads. patriots seem to be the best buck. $1300 for a set of heads with .650 lift springs and they flow over 300cfm at .600 even flow 297 at .500 with it being a 227cc.. AFR and trickflow were my 1st choice but after thinking about it. spending 2400 for a set of heads and having to spend another 400 for rockers. (cant use stockers with aftermarket heads) the total cost would be about 3000. the patiros are half the cost and would only make maybe 12hp less. money spend better elsewhere at this point.

wanted to say, im not knocking AFR or trickflows at all. id love to have them. but going to college full time, i dont have as much money to throw into this at once like i did the cavalier..
shooting for 500whp if i stay n/a and shooting for 650-700whp if i go boost.
most people make around 500whp on 6psi with the stock ls1. iv seen a few 402s and 408s in the upper 600s on 8-10psi. and over 700 whp with meth injection.

if you are going with a big inch motor , might wanna think about the L92/L76 heads , but they would make your fast 90 worthless

I don't have anything to contribute, but I just LOL'd when I read that sentence. I wish my struggling college years could be spent with a C5 and building a badass stroker for it. I mean, I've got a project car that I've just done an engine and tranny swap in, but my total amount spent is about the same as your nice set of heads lol.

L76 intake manifold sucks. I would have went that way if FAST had an intake out for it. The l92s flow pretty much close to the patriots. its slighly over 300cfm at .600

Like I said, its been 40-50% off on most of the parts. I bought everything new with the cavalier. More people mod vettes and camaros/trans ams So there is ALOT more parts forsale second hand for good deals.
The cavalier went together in less then a year. from stock, to fully build with hahn 20g and portfueler. i was into it around 12,000-15,000

Lookin good man! Check with Charlie @ RPM Motors on CF about heads. They won't be cheaper than the patriots, but you might be able to get a lot more for not much more.

how little you know young grasshopper , they had 2 at sema , plus edelbrock and GM have intakes out there , granted they are 4 bbl carb style currently , but flow better

evey dyno if seen on a n/a setup with L92 heads and L76 intakemanifold, power dropped off damn near strait down at 6k. lots of info on tech. the l92 heads are great. 300+cfm at 600 lift and close to 350 cfm at 600 lift after being CNCd.
not knocking the L92s at all. I would have went that route had FAST have an intake out for them. plus i got a good deal on my 90/90 setup.. The L76 just seems to the the bottle neck right now.

im doing the fast 92/92 combo with the vengeance racing port job and smooth and paint and the trick flow 215cc heads with the LG g5x4 cam that im getting and the LG pro long tube headers with catless 3" x-pipe, LG BIG3 3" catback exhaust and vararam cold air intake ive already bought for it. going for the 500rwhp mark N/A stock cubes and many people ive talked to said that with this combo i should be closer to the 525rwhp mark and it will sound evil as hell.
did you get that pm i sent you with that link in it john for the $1900 heads with everything plus the MS4 cam that you wanted?
calling patriot monday for you also and see what i can do for you as far as price goes.

I did, If you look at it, i posted in that thread about a week ago asking about the cam. I rather not go with the PRC stage 1. He didnt want to split it up though.
