daily driver/tow vehicle?

hey guys, in my future plans, in addition to a new car, im planning on a new daily driver/tow vehicle. i drive about 3/4 of a mile to work, and we have a BMW 323i for long trips, so gas milage isnt a concern. im lookin at a '98-'00 yukon or tahoe. how would they do towing a 3500lb car? and which one would you guys suggest? i found a good denali for a great price... but it'll be gone before i get the money. are they good enough to really try to get one, or does it matter?

Andy

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors
'97 GTP 14.06@100.6mph pre cam w/ 3.5" pulley, I/E

I think you have the right idea, go Denali if you're going to get one. I've known a few people with Tahoes and Yukons and the Denalis have that luxury edge.

I like the Yukon GTs a lot too if you want to go older and cheaper.

Small pic but they're sweet!

If i can tow a 97 grand am with my V6 explorer, you will definitely have no problem using a yukon/tahoe to tow with...lol

Remember to also look at the trailer you're towing as well and combine the weight with the car to compare with the vehicles towing capacity. Hell if you can see if they will let you hook up the trailer and car for a test drive and you decide that way. Maybe look into 3/4 ton crew cabs as well if you are only taking 4-5 passengers max with you.

FYI just because something can pull something else does not mean it should.

brakes suck ass on them , most had the smaller rear drums , even the larger rear drum models go through brakes like crazy

also they have injector issues from time to time

they are pretty solid other wise and tow well

I've had a Commander for about 6 months now and that thing is awesome! Mine is an 07 and I got it with 15k miles and only spent 18k out the door and that is loaded. Dealerships around here have them all day long for 14k.

im happy with my new Silverado. not sure on your price range, but it was well worth what I paid for it. I actually paid less for it brand new than I paid for my cavalier brand new. Also came with tow package which is a plus.
