I really, really enjoyed the test drive. Drove really well, accelerated well, and handled great. It was a bone dry model with manual, 13,799. It probably would have come home with me, BUT..they wanted to give me 2,800 for my trade in, lol.
They would not negotiate the price of the car..Everyone has said the Fit is a much better vehicle so I'm going to go give that a drive and get an estimate on my trade in there too..See if they'll negotiate.
Overall it was a really nice driving experience. It was a lot quicker than I imagined it to be...shifted smoothly and wasn't all that noisy.
for the Miata?
HELL NO! 1st gens STILL go for like $4000 to $5000 used. Any dealer that won't give you even $3500 for it is full of crap. Walk away, you could put it in the Auto trader and get $4000 easy.

Na, I'm selling that outright. It was my truck..which has a trade in value from KBB of like 6K....I just sorta laughed and left...they followed me out to my car and went as high as 4500...I'll just sell it outright too I guess.
2 things
Fit > Yaris . Every comparo you will find will agree. Also the new body style is out, try driving an 08 and an 09
I doubt your trade in will change much from dealer to dealer, I know we wont give blue book on a truck.... blue value doesn't mean much when trucks just sit on the lot cause noone wants them
yea i've been trying to get rid of my tacoma lately too. blue book is 14k and the most i've had offered for it from a dealership is 7k. the guy told me flat out that if gas wasn't so bad, i'd get 10k for my truck with no problems...but trucks aren't moving so they couldn't offer me much for it.
GO PATS!!!

I've read that as well. I just really like the styling of the Yaris over the Fit..although in EVERY other possible scenario the Fit is better for me...including the 4 doors.
They were giving me blue book value for trade in of the truck. I just figure I can get more from selling private party. The truck is a Dakota and for some reason they seem to do better with resale than other vehicles(midsized). Also my location helps, beach nearby that requires 4X4 as well as this being more the ranch part of Tx.
I agree. The Yaris is a handsome kind of ugly, like the old Mini Cooper. It's not sexy or sleek, but it has utilitarian good looks, and proportions that are pleasing to the eye. The Fit is a fine car, but it's too tall and angular, like you're driving a shed. The Yaris may not be as good of a car, but it looks much nicer. Probably the best looking economy car available.
The upcoming Ford Fiesta will be arguably better looking, but it will never have that Toyota quality.
suposedly the Yaris doesn't have that Toyota quality either

Regarding?
Only issue with the current model is something with the crappy A/C unit used ... overall build quality for a bargain bin basement sub compact is on par.

idk, Toyota is finally bringing the 5 door Yaris stateside (according to Motor Trend), but I still think i'd take a Fit over a Yaris....

meh, i test drove a yaris, and a buddy of mine had one
i wasnt thrilled by the test drive, seemed to have the quality of a geo metro, except revamped
my buddy hated his yaris too, they are terrible in the snow apparently
i agree that the yaris, at least the hatches, are not up to toyota standard

You see!!!!! PROOF!
I'm right again! *does a little dance*
Ugh. I don't know what to do. I'm starting to have more issues come up with my truck...power steering started to whine(was low on fluid), but that fluid had to have been going somewhere..and this morning(after oil change) I noticed a big pool of oil on the driveway. The oil is no big deal, it probably needs a gasket or something on the drain plug..BUT, any prospective buyer is going to see this big ass oil stain under the truck and be hesitant. Also the new belt I had replaced a few days ago is sqeeking horribly until the truck warms up, probably the tensioner pulley...It's all just nickles and dimes and time, but god it's getting old.
Toyo offered me 4500. I'm test driving a Fit tonight. If they give me near, or above that and are willing to negotiate price I am going to try to talk my wife into it. I just want to get out from underneath this truck so bad..
I feel like I'm going to sell it to someone and then get a call a week later saying it broke down on them. I can't lie, so when people call about the truck and ask questions I am honest...It really isn't in that bad a shape, just has a few things here and there..and I'm overly touchy with my vehicles.
Is there anything else I can do?
you could try taking your truck to carmax, but I'll doubt if they will give you any more for it. They seem to low ball just about everyone. You could also try going to less popular dealerships. Everybody seems to want a Toyota or Honda these days. It might be worth while to look at some of the other brands that need to move cars. GM/Ford/Chrysler are selling cars at huge discounts and will probably give you a bit more for your trade to close the deal. I would also check out the new Fit, as your really not going to get a deal on the current one.
My girlfriend bought a Versa SL a few weeks ago. Very impressed with the car. Go try one.
carmax won't want it, so they'll lowball. thats where i went.
GO PATS!!!
Sooooooo glad I don't drive a vagina on wheels (fit, versa, yaris). F those ugly @!#$boxes.

Thank you for replying to my not adding to the convo post.
Ok, I'll play. Joe awesome photoshop! Oddly I'd rather drive that than a Fit.

It's ok, I'd be angry too if I had to drive a Fit.
