well, after much debate, i've decided to sell the GTP. it's never been what i wanted, and it's about time to part with it. so im gonna sell it, pick up a blazer or jimmy as a DD and save up my money through the winter and get a new project in the spring. so my question to you guys is, what would be an inexpensive good muscle starter. i want rwd, V8, and manual. the GF doesnt like third gens (my first choice) and since it's her garage the car will be staying in, she gets a say. also, no fox or new edge mustangs. so, what're you guys thinkin

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

You just eliminated 98% of the affordable cars out there.
Other than 1st gen F-body reproductions... you're kinda north of the rock and south of the hard place, You might be able to get a 4th gen F-bod, but if you decide to go that way, go for a 4/6 cylinder F-bod, dump the engine and transmission, and swap in an LS series engine, a good rear-end (ford 9"), brakes and whatever tranny tickles your fancy.
Well what automaker are you into? If you hunt around enough you can find some real steals. Also are you planning on doing body work? There are Chevy Novas, Chevelles, El Cominos, C/10 pick-ups(i own a 69' 1/2ton), Camaros, Corvettes, Monte Carlos....
For Pontiac you have the Firebird, Tempest(make a GTO clone), GTO, Grand Prix(there boats but some models were rated with 350 horse stock)
There is the Olds Cutlass, 442.... Buick Grand National
I know im forgeting some.
"Project 69'"
1969 Chevrolet C/10, 1/2 ton, 2wd
-Boosted LS1?
-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
im just curious as to why no fox bodies or newer mustangs.....
I have always really liked these.
and these

yeah, the "inexpensive" ones
i am in luck, however. i think i just brought her over to the dark side of third gens. showed her a few pictures of what i wanted to do, and she finally caved.
and, no mustangs because that's what EVERYONE has. this entire town is full to the brim with mustangs. mustangs becoming this towns rice. it was nice having something different with the gtp... but now i want something different and fast that wont break the bank with just one mod

maybe i'll just do the stereotypical 383 stroker in a third gen with a 4" cowel hood and anniversary wing. it'll be like every other one on the internet... but it'll be unique in town!

Grow a pair of nuts, a mullet and buy a 3rd gen. You know it's what you really want anyways.

Hey, i picked my truck up for $300. Granted half of it is in the scrapyard, but its wasnt that expensive.

3 Slow 5?
Honestly.
IF you're looking at something fast out of the box look for an abandoned LS swap project.
i got an 82 el co with a 305 and it doesnt run but the body is perfect but the interior is trash ..........................900$ and its yours
Find a Pontiac LeMans and go from there.
I actually have seen a few in my area for dirt cheap in need of restoration.
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.
if you want a inexpensive 60s car yeah lemans (tempest), nova, maybe some cutlasses, and a couple lower model chevelles. 80's g-bodies(regal, grand prix, cutlass, montes, elcaminos) 3rd gen f-bods, 2 gen f-bods are still kinda down

because the 305 wont be staying in it, and i can get a 5 speed in one so it's one less step i have to do. just swap in the bigger engine, no clutch packs tranny mounts, yadda yadda yadda

anything with a manual is gonna be hard to find , except for a fox body
so if you want a manual figure on swapping
mid to late 70's and early 80's stuff are about all that is gonna be kinda cheap
so... how hard is it to get a big block into a third generation camaro? and, is $650 a good price for a '72 427 bb?

650 for a 427 is dirt CHEAP , but it wouldnt be a 72 , since the 427 died in 69
unless its a tall deck truck motor , which is still worth a small mint , and the fav of stroker motors due to the 1/2" taller deck height , but with the tall deck you gotta be careful its not a 366
big block would drop right in a 3rd gen , its the headers that will kill ya
drop right in as in mounts and everything? i though bb's had different motor mounts. and how much are heads and such for big blocks. im guessin a small fortune.
