Wondering if anyone knows anything about the Ford Escape or owns one. I found a 2004 4wd v6 xlt model. Silver with dark colored interior with power everything, 75000 miles and the guy wants $8950 for it. Any problems with them? Defects or anything I should look for or know about before buying?
Not a one. From what i hear they are a pretty solid vehicle. It's most likely because the Escape is more Mazda than Ford that they're so reliable.

A guy I work with has one..its a decent vehicle...but it seems as if things are "cheap" in it. Maybe its just not my taste..but its definately not something i would buy. the xlt model might be better though...as long as you like it and runs smooth, sounds like a good deal!
Solid vehicles, never hear any real bad press on them. Friend of mine has one and she loves it but the beige interior is like swimming in a sea of endless khakis, a little to monotone.
that is a good price i think.
i seen 02's going for 12k. in my area.
good luck
I find that they are a little loud inside, feel slow, and are a little cheap feeling. I personally don't like them at all, but my opinion aside, they are good vehicles. I'd say go for it.

coming from a cavalier owner. that made me lol. if i hadn't found my wifes toyota highlander when i did, she would have ended up with on 04 escape. a decent midsize suv...

yea i worked at a detail shop and we got alot of them in and the insides are very cheap. nice truck but cheap intside. a girl i no has one and just bought a new one. she has had good luck with them.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am going to try to get this one. It is the xlt with the dark interior. I hate the tan interior colors. I am currently driving a 2000 chevy blazer and the interior on it is very cheap. Many rattles and squeaks. I drove the escape and it was overall quiet. Not near as many noises as my blazer. I am just looking for a smaller suv thats 4wd and v6 under the 10k price range.

I used to work at an Acura dealership, and my used car department dealt with high end cars. I have driven just about every type of car that you would see on the street on a daily basis, from beaters to BMWs. Accordingly, I can judge the Escape against alot of other vehicles, and those were my impressions. I own a Cavalier because I am in school and I don't want a high car payment, not because I think it's a quality vehicle.
I drove one up to Northern California and beat the hell out of it all the way up there.
Pretty descent on gas and comfy..
My buddy got one (also has a Z24) and loves it to death! I only got quick drive in it so far, but it was solid, quiet & pretty peppy! I'm not a Ford fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it seemed pretty nice. I'm not sure of the year or trim level, but it's not that new.
my future wife owns a 08 and i got to say its pretty nice....comfy interior and decent lumbar support mind you im 5'10 230weight ....... i myself not a ford fan but she loves and i got to say im pretty happy with it so far and gets half way decent gas milage
i believe its the XLT trim level 2wd
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
