2008 yamaha r6?

I am in the market for a bike and I ha e been looking around and thus far I am liking what I am seek here. They have apparently fixed the issues of the lack of low end power. I am basically looking for some insight, from someone with more experience, and maybe some other bikes that are comparable to consider. Thank you for your time

i work at a certified honda motorcycle shop as well as suzuki and yamaha. the best bike really depends on what kind of riding you like to do. but if your looking at the 600's i would go for the new 2008 cbr600. very reliable and has great factory warranty. but tell me what kind of riding your looking for. and have you ever been on a bike and what. i will help you out as much as possiable.

I'm not looking to take it to the track, but I really like the turns. Definitly some mountain trips ahead. I have been riding a 84 Honda v65 la sabre thus far. But it is real heavy. And just was sold(my dads old bike). I have been riding for 4 years but due to the power of the Honda my dad wouldnt let me take it out without him for fear I would trash it due to the poor handling. I am looking at a 600 for the reasoning I want somthing I can throw around in the turns.

well if you are not looking for to much power but more control over the bike i would go with the gsx-r 600. for myself they are very easy to control, nice stance to the ground. plus the gsx-r have way better low-end than r6 and cbr600. but also has some power to it to. but the next best one would be the cbr600. r6's are good but they are to top heavy to my standards. i would say look at the sv's but your wanting a more sporty bike. but hands down look at the gsx-r 600. or even the gsx-r 750. but again for a great reliable bike honda is on top of there game.

Ducati 848
Buell 1125R

Probably the two best-handling bikes out there. Yeah they're expensive, but you get what you pay for

well since you are wanting to buy a new bike and being a sport bike, replacement parts are NOT cheap if you wreck. get frame sliders, bar ends these will save your bike as much as possiable. and if they try to upsale anything else like a pipe no need to get full exhaust, slip-on is just fine. keep the cat on. but some good brands would be two brothers, acropolvic (pricey), yoshimira, arrow (dont recommened this pipe) and so on. but if you want a nice deep and crisp sound go with the two-brothers pipe best bang for the buck. and another thing if you can, always try to get the extended warranty. its always worth it. trust me. unless you know how to work on them yourself. but other than that if you have any other questions just ask. oh and by the way the v65 magma. wow we worked on one of those the other day. needed to clean the carbs and replace the front fork dust seals. after i was done, went to go ride WOW. had no idea the amount of power it had. lol

I have a 2006 R6 and absolutly love it... this low end power problem your talking about, im not sure what you mean as its definatly not bad low end.. i can pick from front tire up at most speeds.. and other then a Yoshi exhaust its 100% stock as far as engine/performance parts go.
only thing i would say the R6 could have used from factory was a steering damper, other then that i would say an all around fun bike... and most of my rides are long 4-6hr high way cruzing and i dont feel sore or stiff at all after, surprisingly for a sport bike...
thought i might as well throw some pics up of mine, maybe sway you to the R6

ahah in this one you can see my licence plate is bent up lol... was in a small wheelie (more or less just taking off fast with all the weight on the rear tire and the front end probably only off about 6-7inches) and hit a fairly big dip in the road which bottomed out the tire into it

I ride on 04 R6, and my buddy rides an 06. I feel the difference in low end. While riding you dont stay in the low end at all, so I wouldnt even worry about it.
Great bike though!

yea i thought about it but im glad i didnt get it... cuz i would rather bottom out the licence plate into the plash gaurd rather then the undertail part.. although it might not now that i have nicely bent it up ahaha but ill probably just leave it... and i got the little LED pointed at it where it is now and COPS around here will pick any thing they can to pull a Sport bike over... that being one of the things

Ride all the major brands first. Go for the bike that feels the most comfortable to you. You know the one that fits like a glove so you feel like you are one with bike.

^^true but most shops will not let customers test ride the sport bike. well down here in the dfw they dont. but if they do up there that would be your best bet
