Pretty much self explanatory.
What do you guys think about getting one for a build?
Do you like them?

If you're anywhere near Salt Lake City, I know of one in decent condition without a motor or tranny for $300.

I would want to buy the car FOR the motor and tranny. That thing is nuts! Especially for '91 being only 2000 made. It's kinda like a low budget collectors sleeper.

But you can pull the motor and tranny out of any DSM cheap, I've got a couple lol, and should be adding a 2.4 wideblock to my collection next week.

If you were going to put a new motor and tranny in it you could always swap a 4G63 into a mirage. Although its only fwd.

Galants have different tranny's.. But yes VR4 galants are hawt, there are 2 or 3 around Omaha capable or actually hitting 500+ whp.

not a fan and never will be... you can't deny its one of the ugliest cars ever made.
As for being a sleeper... its basically just a 4 door DSM... anyone who knows cars isn't gonna think its a sleeper, thats liek saying the WRX wagon is a sleeper.
I would MUCH rather buy a 2nd Gen Eclipse then a VR4 (although neither are high up on my list of wants)
I only want it because i am from a rich, unknowledgeable town, with kids that have nothing but parent bought WRX's. I want something different, but something that would be something of conversation.

So your actaully gonna buy a car based on what the rich kids around you drive... no offense but thats kinda pathetic
Isnt the Galant VR4 like the oldschool Evo? Or am I thinking of something else?
I don't care for their looks all that much, but the 3000GT VR4 looks awesome
A Galant VR4 is not a old evo but I guess its simular... 4 door, AWD, 5-speed manual, with a 4G63
except they look like this....
i think they are neat cars... but personally, dsm and reliability aren't two words that go together all that often when you start making decent power.
not saying that they can't be built or that their aren't reliable dsm's out there. just have heard a lot of horror stories.
has nothing to do with that. Same reason why people modify their cars.. So that they can stand out from the pack. I would much rather buy a car that represents me, than buy a car that everyone else has.
(btw, i was thinking of buying a wrx, that is the only reason why i brought it up)

what do you mean it has nothign to do with that....

My personal opinion... I would MUCH rather have a WRX over a 17 year old DSM

I love how you completely excluded the second half of that and quoted only what would make your point seem justified. Sounds like michael moore to me.

9 times out of 10 the whole reliability quander comes from moron kids that try to push the limits with no suporting mods... hell they dont even do BASIC maintnance to the car. How can you expect something to perform well when you dont take care of it properly.

i dunno that i'd say it's 9 times out of 10 on the reliability issue but that's just my opinion.
personally, i'd go for the wrx too.

ok then pretend its the full quote that still starts with... "I only want it because"

I'm not positive, but I believe the Lancia Delta EVO was the first Evolution. The Galant was certainly not an EVO, though.

I couldn't agree more

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.

Wow, I was thinking of something else? I remember the AWD, 5-speed, etc. However, that car just doesn't look attractive to me. Maybe the one i saw was modded with a kit and what not. This stock one is just terrible looking to me . . .
IDK if it was true for all DSM in the early 90's, but my friends '93 VR4 and his GF's '92 Eclipse went thru ECU's like crazy, they just wouldnt last and burn up. just somethin to watch out for

Wow, you think that car would look good with a body kit... ick
------------------------------------------------------------
I don't remember what it had. I could've sworn it was a Galant VR4 . . . It looked really good, but that pic just is drawing me a blank. Did they have any other bodystyles for the Galant VR4, or is that it?
Maybe it was a mirage with a 4G63T swap in it. Those with an evo body kit don't look too shabby.
I've always loved Galant VR4's.
