Got rid of the old Cavy and picked this up on 5/30/07. Cavalier had been stock for a while and was starting to act up. Decided it was time for a new car, and my internship made the financing part possible.

I'll always have a thing for J-bodies, but I love this car. 263hp and 280 tq (before the intake) and a 6-speed make for a whole lot of fun. Plus once some big companies finish their R&D, the potential for this car are huge. Plan on taking it to the track in about 2 weeks. A guy I know that has a Speed 3 with the CAI (and is also a former j-body owner) ran a 13.9, so I'm interested in seeing what I can pull out. Traction (as with all fwd) is going to be a huge issue in 1st and 2nd gear. I'm also greatly enjoying having 4-doors and plenty of space with the hatch.

Sharp looking car, what color is that?

The color is called Cosmic Blue. The Speed 3 comes in 4 colors, all of which are available on other cars except this one. The exclusiveness was a main factor in deciding, along with the fact that it can look grey in certain settings.

P.S. The look on the faces of Mustang GT drivers are great when I walk bus lengths on them in a hatchback.

nice, i would love a mazdaspeed 3 if they came in a 4 door. Did Mazda fix the problems with the weak motor mounts yet?

They announced a recall for the #4 motor mount bolt a few weeks ago. I already got mine done. I actually just order a new rear mount to help with wheel hop and traction issues in 1st and 2nd gear.

I'd love to trade the tC in for one... but I complain enough as is about monthly payments on the tC.

Nice car man! As for traction being an issue in 1st and 2nd gear i don't think you have to worry about that too much. Boost is restricted in those gears to help with traction, i hear 3rd is wehre it really takes off. Also you are planning on using a mazdaspeed intake right? Any other size will mess up the MAF as it needs a known cross sectional area.

Let us know hwo it goes, that's definatly a wiced car.

I already have the Mazdaspeed CAI (see engine pic).

I know boost is limited in 1st and 2nd, but even with that, if I go WOT with traction control off it will roast them through both. Wheel hop is also horrible. I wouldn't mind the tires just fighting for traction, it is the skipping across the ground that I hate so much. Hopefully my new rear mount will help out a lot with this issue.

Am I the only one who still thinks that car looks just nasty? It's such an amazing car, and I almost bought one 3 years ago instead of my Z24, but everythime I see it it looks worse to me. Now the Mazda6 that is beautifull.

But good choice.

one of my choices for next car. its between this, mazda6, or lexus is300. or if decide to cheap out a 03+ cavalier sedan.

Those things are definitely sick... and fast. A lightly modded one ran dead even with my stage 3 saab 900 SE on the highway, we must've gone about 100 miles out of our way doing highway pulls. Definitely an amazing car for the price, I'd rip it. Congrats.

I wanted a MS3 when I was car shopping but they were just coming out and I was told I would have to wait until the end of January (2007) to get one, This was in early October 2006. I couldn't wait (the cav was limping everywhere, and the thought of another winter in it saddened me) so I got the 6 instead.

The two MS cars that came out recently have been amazing. Both the 3 and 6 has een QUITE impressive. If i could afford, and find one, i would DEF. jump on one of these in no time.
