Honda promised us a factory-prepared, Mugen-tuned Civic at last fall's Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas. Before this year's SEMA show, Honda will deliver.
Starting in October, Honda will begin selling the 2008 Civic Mugen Si sedan, priced at just less than $30,000. Available in Fiji Blue Pearl only, just 1000 of the cars will be available in the first model year.
Equipped with a high-performance suspension, forged-aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling and a cat-back exhaust system, the Civic Mugen Si brings factory-backed Japanese domestic-market tuning for the first time to Hondas sold in the United States.
The car features lowered suspension, aggressive spring and damper tuning, lightweight 18-inch aluminum wheels and a front spoiler, side spoilers, rear bumper diffuser and rear wing. Mugen emblems complete the appearance package.
The car uses the same Civic Si running gear, including a 2.0-liter, 197-hp, 139-lb-ft four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission.

Its a novelty civic made and marketed towards people who want a novelty civic.
Thats why there is only a limited number of them.
If you don't care about a novelty civic, this car may as well not even exist to you ...
30k for a civic?!?! lol. i dont care if its a super duper uber rare JDM civic or whatever, 30k for an econo-box is insane. im with the other guy, id rather get a used evo, or a used vetter for even cheaper. heck for 30k i would be looking at bmw's and such.
how much is that over a base Si coupe? because they are 28K CAD here. 2g's for body suspension and aero isn't that bad. FYI the CAD is trading at 0.96 of the USD.

well my buddy paid 21k for his 07 si out the door brand new.... so i cant picture another 8k-9k for "mugen" body kit and wing...

Canadian Cars are alot more expensive, even though the dollar conversion is alomst the same now. It'd probably be $35 000 or more, and they probably won't sell it here anyway. And I'm just fine with that.
Why do thay have to use that front bumper cover. it is the ugliest possible thing they could have put on it. The Japanese and European ones look a hell of alot better than that.
for 35k.. Ill take a used g35 or a frigging Altima coupe.

I'm sorry, I could swear you said $30K for a civic? This DOES officially give me the right to beat anyone I see driving one of these with a baseball bat, correct? If it came with AWD and a turbo, MAYBE i could justify $30K, but who in their right mind is going to pay that for a practically stock motor with a suspension/appearance package? I can just see how much of an utter failure this one's going to be...

Wow! is that how much the standard Si sedans are going for? That seems steep too though. for that same price you could do a new WRX or used STi and gain turbo and AWD, or even a new Cobalt SS/SC, or Neon SRT-4 for even less than that.. Those seem like a better deal to me.
I'll be the first to admit the Si sedans are nice cars but i'm not thinking they are worth the same as what other car makers are offering with AWD and boost.

Wow way overpriced for that much power and for the additions, I'd rather have a standard two door si.
The four door civics are UGLY AS HELL!!!! Look at that thing, i mean common! The two doors are better looking but the sedans are just plain ugly in my opinion.
I still like the original mid-late 90's integra's the best.
Nice to see honda offer a one off vehicle but they should have done a two door, and for less money.
Mugen lowers the car by 0.6 inches with aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance while still maintaining a high level of ride comfort. Compared to the conventional Civic Si Sedan, front and rear damping force (both bump and rebound) was increased between 8%(F) and 24%(R) . Lightweight 16.98-pound 18x7.5-inch forged aluminum wheels (27 percent lighter than the stock 17x7 alloy wheel) and high-grip BFGoodrich G-Force KDW 215/40ZR18 summer tires help to create MUGEN’s unique, rewarding and well-balanced handling performance character. The full-vehicle aero-package adds a front spoiler with a sports grille, side spoilers, a rear bumper diffuser and a rear wing. Mugen also included a sport exhaust system reduces back pressure from the catalytic converter back.

Yhea, give me a Si over a Crapbalt anyday. To top it it off, base vs. base the Si's price is lower in price by $500 and for the Crapbalt to match the Si's equipment, Si beats it by $1500.
Now I do think that this Mugen is $5000 to expensive; but here, there have been basic Civic Si advertised for $32K (US). Yep, that is the demand for these buggers. If I ever find the the ad I will be more than happy to post it.
But like Jinxed said, it is the price to pay for exclusivity.

Good thinking on Honda's part though. They know they could sell 1000 of them no matter what they charge. Someone will buy it.
They could sell a thousand of those if they came in plaid, with tailfins and square wheels.
Sad thing is, some punk kid will still have that car and act like they bought it themselves... For 30k Id buy a pretty nice Acura TL with 270 hp...

Geared towards those who want a "tuner car" but don't want to do the work themselves. I'm not a honda person nor know what motors are in the cars, but i would imagine a base civic could be purchased and built for the same price and would be able to eat that mugen in both show and go. I'm more for the whole " Built, not bought" crowd.

not really if you think about it.. its pretty much an rsx. they were going for around 23k. so rsx but a 4 door.
srt4, cobalt, Si, wrx. all the 200-240hp motors are in that 20k area now..

the car is built in canada. hell im 30-45 mins away from the plant!
the SI with the K20 in it sells for a good penny as it is, around $27,000CDN
now, when you put it all together, how do you figure it would cost $35,000?
if you can buy a used viper or evo for that price, go ahead... im sure its at that price for a reason... more than likely abused to @!#$ and running on borrowed time.
