Somebody had way to much time to log info that does not mean much. Maybe just bragging rights.

I'll have to agree that someone had too much time. A current and complete database of car stats would probably be worth a few bucks.

Of magazine racing statistics, that everyone loves so much, I would say this stat to be the most valuable quik reference. If you are looking for a quik fwd car, the vehicles towards the top of the list might be a good place to start.

I would say that torque to weight ratio with actual take home price factored in would be a great number to reflect a cars positon.

With the above mentioned, it is not suprising to see Cobalt SS/SC next to the civic. I'm sure a back to back test drive would clear the air. HP sells cars...don't ya know. The stage 2 setup bumps the car well up.

This brings me to think that I should develop a new equation to reduce all car buying criteria down to one number. You could fill out a questionaire. The result would tell you what car you are to drive. I'll start with the assumption that the best car in the world will be represented by the number 42.

I'm not sure if it's dry weight or not. For some reason, I assume it's dry.

Altima 2dr might ba a good choice for someone looking for a practicle car with a little punch. I do think the Montes payments would be lower. ANd from what I have heard from a couple friends driving v8 w-bodies, they get great milleage.

Honda Civic SI was on that list twice. I though there was only 1 trim level in an SI

wouldn't a better way be doing a hp to weight and then a tq to weight and averaging the two out?

Since torque is in the equation to arrive at HP, you would be using the same value twice.

just for the hell of it i spent 30 mins and decided to pick apart a small part of the list and divided the weight by the torque and added it to the weight to hp ratio and then divided by 2. i also went around searching on the net looking for stock 1/4 times for these cars.

There chart

HP/LB 1/4 Mile

14.6 ( 14.5) 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged
14.6 (14.3) 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT
14.6 (15.2) 2007 Honda Civic Si
14.7 (15.4) 2007 Volkswagen Eos 3.2L VR6
14.8 (15.6) 2007 Hyundai Sonata SE V6
14.8 (14.5) 2008 Audi TT 2.0T
14.8 (14.4) 2007 Volvo S80 3.2 I-6

My list

HP/LB TQ/LB HP&TQ/LB 1/4 Mile

14.6+13.73 = 28.33/2 = 14.165 (14.3) 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT
14.8+14.30 = 29.12/2 = 14.561 (14.5) 2008 Audi TT 2.0T
14.6+14.95 = 29.55/2 = 14.775 (14.4) 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged
14.8+14.77 = 29.57/2 = 14.785 (14.4) 2007 Volvo S80 3.2 I-6
14.8+15.30 = 30.10/2 = 15.050 (15.5) 2007 Hyundai Sonata SE V6
14.7+15.68 = 30.38/2 = 15.192 (15.4) 2007 Volkswagen Eos 3.2L VR6
14.6+20.76 = 35.36/2 = 17.681 (15.2) 2007 Honda Civic Si

i reordered the second list based on the lowest HP and TQ to LB ratio
as you can see this seems to work quite well and much better then just using hp/lb. the 1/4 mile time line up much much better
the only real odd ball is the civic si and im sure thats can be attributed to the engines odd high reving power band so while my formula doesn't work in all cases it does in most
