2003-2004 SVT Cobra
Friday, June 08, 2007 7:05 PM
So I went to all Ford Nationals kinda as a fun trip last weekend to see some cars I dont normally see and just look around and enjoy a car show, I dont really ever enjoy car shows cause im too busy cleaning my car or worrying about other @!#$ I dont have fun at car shows im showing at. Anyways Ive always like mustangs, not as much as F-bods but a close 3rd. I used to be heavy into reading car mags long before I was driving and new just about every spec and Ive always wanted a V8 its just that if your under 25 they will just abuse you with insurance, im 26 now so I think the time is right.

I really liked the last gen body style and the 03-04 Cobras other than the current GT500 are the most powerful factory mustangs ever produced at 390HP. Theres just something about special model factory supercharged cars that really appeals to me. But being at this show last week I just fell in love with them all over again. I couldnt care less about the gas mileage, im prob going to trade in the cobalt ss for this thing and get a maybe an older cav for a winter car as we do get a bit of snow here.

of course the 09 Camaro is under consideration but I really think thats going to be a bit outside of my price range, Cobras im seeing from 20-25k

So anyone know a great deal about these cars? Ive been doing a little research on them, I just @!#$ love this car and I really want one, @!#$ this weak hopped up 4 banger @!#$, I want some horsepower

Too bad you missed the tripple black convertible for sale at my old work. 14000km. It sounded evil with the Borla on it.

They don't call them terminators for nothing, I would get one if I had the money and wanted a fast car.

Ive said it numerous times, if youre going to buy a Mustang, but an 03/04 Cobra.

I am a fan.

um 03-04 Cobras are Factory Supercharged with an Eaton M112, how else you think they make 390hp out of a 4.6L engine

i think hes saying the others arent LS1's and GTO's arent and thats why they dont run 12's stock. but i love the 03-04 cobras. just drove by one today

atleast a GTO is caddie comfortable and easy to drive compaired to a stang

add a 112hh or a 122 to a 05-06 gto and you got more power than that piss ass SLObra

only thing the SLObra has over a goat is a better rear suspension set up for drag racing , and the ability to stuff big ass tires under it

that said , i like the cobra , but its as outta date as anything else out there

I've been smoked by quite a few cobra's in a straight line.

Personally I would wait for the camaro, but that's just my preference

The cobra is a slightly outdated design with a great Engine and is loads of fun to drive. If the deal is right I'd say go for it!

Well neither does the 03/04 cobra. If you are John force you might could get a mid 12 but most average cobra owners are high 12s low 13s bone stock.
05-06 GTOs are withing that range but it takes a better driver.

I am a fan of 03-04 cobras but they are a dime a dozen here.

You say one has a better rear suspension than the other, but they are both IRS equipped. It's common practise for a Cobra owner to find a GT owner to do even swaps. The IRS stands up alot better to the n/a 4.6 than the power of the Terminators.

That thing sounds like Steven King's "Langoliers" when the creatures where hiding over hills and were prowling and getting ready to eat the world.

while they do swap over to a straight axle , doesnt mean their IRS is completely junk

if you saw or spent any time with the gto's set up , you would agree that their IRS is worse than the cobras by design

if neither driver beats on their cars , both are a good setup
