I bought a 1998 chevy metro 1.3l automatic. And ideas where I could get a cheap engine rebuild kit for it?

I dont think that going to work, I need it to stay automatic and it would be easier to rebould the engine than swap one out. Plus I have the 1.3 4cyl.

I don't know about where you are, but up here a rebuilt 1.3 Suzuki engine with a one year warranty is 1000$. Too bad you didn't get the 3 cylinder, that one is 750$.

It's a good car by the way. Cheap as hell, slow and handles like a shopping cart, but the engine is strong and it doesn't cost anything to fix. Have fun.

Check with your local auto parts store, some carry rebuild kits some don't or check PartsAmerica.

When the guy delivers the vehicle today. He should beable to tell me. But I did get a smashing deal on the car. 850 for perfect body and interior. And allit need really is the head trued up and a head gasket. Oh and thats 850 delivered for about 50 miles.

That is a good deal. Metro's may look crappy (and they kinda are) but they're tough. A Metro's good for about 200,000 miles easy. Also, I never ever heard of their automatics breaking. So that's yet another thing that'll be strong as hell.

who cares what it looks like or how it handles or how slow it is. you can't beat the gas mileage on them cars even though drivingn one is like doing thirty days in the hole. i'm looking for one my self regardless of condition as long as it runs

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

Suzuki builds great cars period. I don't care if it's a samurai, Tracker/Sidekick, or Metro/Swift. The entire car could be beat to hell and held together with duct tape and it still runs like a champ. I've had a few really good ones and a few really beat up ones....they still started up and ran every day flawlessly.
People knock Geo becuase the cars were cheap...but cheap or not, the (Suzuki built Geos) were built to last and be simple to work on.
I had a Samurai with 200,000miles and still runs good (my cousin bought it), And currently a 1995 tracker with 175,000 on it and had a red 1996 Sidekick also with 200,000 on it with automatic. Both ran like new and were rattle free.

Good luck with it, For forums I'd try Zukiworld.com (like a J-body.org for Suzukis) and teamswift.net (they are kind of crybaby pussies there but know alot about metro/swifts) They may have the best answers for you. For parts i'd give Hawk Suzuki Parts or Calmini Suzuki Parts Calmini really is more focused on the trucks lately but have done some Swift stuff so they might have metro stuff.
