I just sold my house on Friday... Looking to hop in something new. I was kind of torn between an 06 Charger Daytona and the GTO but the GTO could be had for much cheaper than the Daytona. I was thinking maybe an 02 TransAm with low miles. I love the look or the T/As but the 6.0 in the GTO and it's interior have me leaning towards the Goat. The interior of the T/A's even the last ones weren't the greatest looking, but the exterior blows everything away. They look way more bad ass than the GTO. The Charger looks better, too, but from what I understand the Charger gets its ass handed to it by Mustangs pretty easily and the SRT8s are way too expensive... The 6.0 GTO seems to be the fastest out of the bunch, and the T/A the best looking...

I own a 98 Trans Am which is the same as an 02 and this is the way i see it..
the Trans Am i = cheap mans Corvette and the GTO = cheap mans M3
Acceleration - LS1 Trans AM > LS1 GTO - LS1 Trans Am = LS2 GTO
comparable interiors - Trans AM = Cavalier/sunfire - GTO = very close to BMW 3 series (also former BMW owner so i know)
take this from a T/A owner....go goat
why not look into a 07 MINI Cooper S there hot and very quick, crazy in the twists and get great gas mileage
... hey its what im getting
I'd go with the Trans Am but I'm just not a big fan of the GTO. It depends on how you want to look really. GTOs are mostly a mid-30s thing around my area whereas the Trans Am is a college student thing.

The TAs are fun cars, but i personally hated the interiors. Hundreds of square miles of plastic and tons squeaks and rattles. I wanted to go nuts in a 45 minute drive in my friends TA. The GTO seemed to be just as fun to drive but 1000xs more comfortable than the trans. I know it may seem like a biased opinion coming from me, but Id go GOAT....as long as you can get around the mild looks, which can be changed.

Personally, My vote: LS1 T/a
And LS1 t/a is quicker then an LS1 goat, the Goat has a mushy feel to the handling, and there is evidence of GM's Cost cutting as soon as you look at it.
Other then the mild interior noise (its really not that bad, it was never meant to drive extremely far, and have you sit in the thing forever), the trans am is beautiful, lines are clean, look is sleek, and the stance is amazing.
Not to mention, far more avaliable performance wise for the T/A.
Sooo, My Vote is - Trans am.

there is 10x the evidence of cost cutting in a trans am. the interior noise is well beyond mild especially if you have an exhaust set up like me, the car does nothing to keep any sound or road noise out and good luck if your driving in an area that has rough roads ...well if in a normal rough riding sports car you could feel a dime on the road, in a trans am you would be able to tell the exact date of it print lol. the only thing i can compare it to is driving around in a tin can with some loose change rattling around in it... well that might be extreme but you get the point and its not really apparent at first because your usually so in awe of the cars power that it slips your mind how unrefined it is. performance mods wise for both a ls1 cars they are equal and the Trans am doesn't have anything over it as they both use basically the same components.
an ls2 gto is as fast if not faster then a ls1 f-body
GTO.. Newer tech, better interior, and you'll piss me off when you post pictures because I can't have one for another 10 years or so.
F**k... I'm pissed off enough that I might have to kick my neighbour in the box... she's pissing me off too.
Hell with it.. I'll do it on general principles.
I would have to say GTO.

GM cost cutting on the goat?? You did mean TA right? The GTO has one of the nicest interiors GM has out in that price range and still better than most that are above it...Vette for example. You may want to get some info on these vehicles before spitting out what ever your brain can make up first.

trans am, mostly becuase im biased.
But still for the price you cannotbeat them!
How's the trunk room on a GTO? Rear seat, too?
O noes!
Gto has a much better and roomier rear seat. The trunk however is not all that large dut to the gas tank be mounted above the rear end.

lots of rear seat room in das goat , trunk space rather small
not that f-bodies have alot of space
02's will be the highest price , because of the last year , and lower milage cars will be even higher yet , friend of mine sold his 02 WS6 t/a for 19k with about 50k miles on it
Sports/Muscle Car = Trans Am
Refinement = GTO
God Bless the LSx.
It should also be noted that the GTO is a grand touring care compared to an all out sports car.

Lets see...
You can dump 6 dead asian hookers in the trunk of the GTO, and the rear seat means at least 4 more if you have dark tint. A T/A can only fit 3-4 if you don't mind pretending the one in the passenger seat is just sleeping.
GTO my choice... but then again, I'd go with a 96 Impala SS... you can carry about 15 dead hookers in them
