GM has confirmed the 2010 Hummer H4. It will share its under body with another upcoming compact architecture, but the fun doesn’t stop there as the H3 sees the addition of a diesel, ethanol and hybrid power model and the addition of a new H3 SUT model in 2008.
The H3’s short nose precludes most V6 installations, so talk is rife that Hummer will fit a derivation of the 2.0-litre common-rail four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit found in the Holden Captiva.
Developed by VM Motori of Italy and produced by GM DAT in South Korea, a size increase to 2.2 or even 2.5 litres is a possibility.
Hummer is also looking at E85 ethanol versions of its two petrol engine choices, as well as a move to biodiesel technology.
Hummer general manager Martin Walsh revealed that the H4 will be twinned with an upcoming compact General Motors platform, although he stopped short of saying which one it would be.
A Hummer insider admitted to fearing that its hard-won hardcore off-road image may be irreparably harmed if GM decides to go "soft" with the H4.
Hummer needs to maintain its 4WD reputation by ensuring that all its vehicles have a separate chassis, short overhangs, class-leading approach, breakover and departure angles, ample ground clearance and signature Hummer styling cues.
At the other end of the spectrum is the development of an H2 replacement.
Also due out by about the end of the decade, it will again be developed off GM’s full-sized 1500/2500/Suburban truck platform: aka---GMT900.
However, a greater emphasis on luxury, as well as right-hand drive engineering, should see the H2 II challenge vehicles such as the Range Rover Vogue and Lexus LX570 in markets outside North America

^^Did you read what he posted? It's coming with biodiesel and E85 versions. Doesn't look bad compared to the H2 and H3.

Agreed. And I think its good to point out that they are perpetuating a brand that stands for waste, gluttony, etc, etc. Sure, bring out a bio-diesel H4... but kill the H1 and H2. If youre not in the military, you dont need one. Awww, but wait, they cant do that, cause it would ruin the brand image.... as opposed to the environment.
Sorry, just not a fan of the Hummer brand. Move to So Cal and after about 5 soccer moms damn near kill you with one you'll see why.
That is a Hummer. The dressed up S10 above isn't. /thread

yup. H1s are the only Hummer that I'd get. They should've kept a Hummer a Hummer.
I want an H1 soooo bad, but come on, Hummer isnt allowed to make other models?
ugh im with 97trd
this is stupid, why build things that are far larger than any person would need?!
because gm is greedy and likes making money by selling these gas hogs to people with too much money so they themselves can have more money than anyone should

That makes no sense.
So being a business is not about making money anymore?

the whole point of a hummer was that it was military issue. these rich mommie grocery getters are NOT MILITARY ISSUE.
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Some people need to RTFA for @!#$in once.
1. Four cylinder, IE not a v8, as in it consumes LESS GAS
2. Diesel, not gas will likely be the engine platform, and it may (will witha little modification) run biodiesel
3. If it runs gas, GM is interested in using E85, not 83 octane "bad for the earth" gas.
Good Lord, if GM came out with an electric Hummer, you would all cry..."But it's a gas hog"
