My buddy bought a '92 or '95 Grand Prix and he is having some problems with over heating and no heat coming out. Here is what he told me:
It overheats and has no heat. I tried everything. New thermostat, heater core, even a water
pump. The car has this goofy way of bleeding the air out of the system so
not sure I am doing that right and it is a pain in the ass to do. I am
starting to think maybe it has a bad head gasket, but want someone to verify
it before I take anything apart
Just looking to see if anyone had any ideas? He's going to take it in to the shop after work tonight, but though that I would pick my fellow .org member's brains before he shells out any money. Thanks in advance.
which engine? if it's the 3.4 than it's not very likely that its a head gasket, but if it's a 3100 than it is fairly likely. take of the oil cap and check the oil to see if theres any sort of milky residue or if it looks like a chocolate milkshake. if that's the case, then you have coolant in your oil and it is most ilkely the head gasket, and he should get it taken care of right away.
It's the 3100 and a '96. He said that he checked the oil and it looks fine. He was thinking that there was air or air pockets in the system causing this?
