04 15,00 34000 miles or 03 44 13,000
He guys im looking to purchase an alternate car and am stuck between an 04 Maxima Se with 34,000 going for $15000 and an 03 A4 1.8T with 44,000 miles going for$13000 both are manual> I would like some input on which would be better to own and modify. Have any of you heard anything bad on either car? The only thing I know is that the Audi would probaly cost more to maintain!
when it comes to boobs i need a girl with bad grades cause im tired of all the ones walking around with straight a's
I have not heard much on eather but if those Audis are anything like the older ones then you want nothing to do with it unless you do not mind the upkeep on them or the many problems. Nothing screams money pit like an audi. On the other hand Maximas have been pretty reliable cars. And I love the look of the new Maximas. I also love the look of the Audis though. And the Audi 1.8T is a great motor to mod. That's about all I have though. I would think that the Audi is more desireable but the Maxima is more reliable.
The new Volkswagens have A TON of electrical problems later in life... I'd be careful. But that'd be a much better car for modding.

Id take the Audi In a heart beat. My buddies was amazing...one as an 03 1.8t and the other has a 97..i forget the engine..but they both handle so well...
and well the maxmia..i dont know I just dont like it
Audi 1.8T for sure..
I have the same engine in my 03 Passat and I love it. Very fast pickup and great gas mileage... I get 35 MPG on the highway and around 25 MPG in the city... Test drive both cars... Do you get any warranty on either one of these cars? That's very important, especially with the Audi's expensive parts.
Eh.. Depends on what you want to do with it.
You said you want to mod, but how?
If you're looking to go all out for performance and want to race/drive the Hell out of it: go the Audi. If you're looking to just do some mild stuff and have a comfortable daily driver/cruiser: Maxima.

you might take one in a heartbeat, but the repair bills will give you a heartattack
audi/vw (out of warranty) = problems
ie. my buddy's aunt had one wiper motor replaced on her out-of-warranty 1.8 A4.
the repair cost was 800bucks

Yeah and the local Chevy dealership wanted $550 to replace my stock headunit on my old Cavalier. Any dealer will rip you off, that's why you should visit a small local shop with a good reputation if you do not have warranty...
There's a big difference between domestic autos and euro imports my friend.
01) I can find you the same headunit for your cavalier on ebay for 30bucks... I can't do the same for anything Audi 02) I won't get comparable parts rates from that local mechanic I befriended simply because the supply is limited 03) These cars are assembled for aesthetics first/ serviceability last, so expect total repair times will average more

As much as I hate to say it, the 1.8T is a great engine, but it's a royal PITA to work on from all accounts I've heard.
The Maxima SE has the VQ35DE engine, and apparently it's pretty stout and easy to work on, and it's in bloody near EVERY Nissan and Infiniti so parts aren't going to be much of an issue.
I'd go with the Maxima if I had the money and wanted to mod the car. The Audi is a great car nonetheless, but its going to be hella expensive to fix when things start inevitably going south. The timing chain replacement on a 1.8T engine is an 8 hour repair item, even if you don't have AWD (I think it's about 10 hours if you do have AWD, I don't know for certain).
Good luck with which ever you choose.
And now for something completely different... Click the Minister.
i say forget both of them and get a 2000ish Audi S4 they are 6speed 2.7Lt twin turbo 250hp stock and 310hp with a chip...that solves all your mod problems right there all you need is a chip and you have more power then you will ever need not to mention a car thats sexy as hell
i'd say definitely go with the Maxima, but then again, i'm biased
i can't say enough good things about this car....performance/quality for the money are OUTSTANDING
I still cant decide, but im leaning toward the Maxima because I wanna see what mods I can pull off. You dont really see them moded as much as an A4!

God I love the looks of the 04 Maxima. They look so sexy yea sophisticated. You can't beat a sexy ass car with some power to back it up. Plus Nissan is 100x more reliable than an Audi ever will be.
I wanted a black on black maxima really bad. They are kinda pricey though.
Im basically going to repeat everything that was said here.....
My roommate now is driving a 2000 Audi A4, and there are things that I like about it, but a lot that annoys me. His is an auto, and when you punch it hard, the car hesitates for a moment, then will go. The motor from what Ive heard is a solid motor though. He is having other issues with the interior though, like the digital display in the middle of the gauge cluster is dead, arm rest and door trim inside are falling apart, and minor stuff like that.
The Maxima is a dead sexy car, but I personally dont like cars of that size. It looks like its a porker when it comes to weight, and I dont think that it would handle as well as the Audi would. Everything else about it though would seem a lot better then the Audi, and the cost of the maintenance would seem like its a lot lower.
In the end, its your call, and its also your money. I would personally go Nissian on this, even though I was looking into an A4 for myself after college, I think im jumping away from that idea and looking into something else.

to be honest i have friends with both and i love both of them as well. If you are looking to mod the audi is def the way to go though. the 1.8t has TONS out there for it
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
from a person that works at carmax, get the maxima.....audi if it was the V6 otherwise...dont get the audi as stated above audis, vws have electrical problems

@!#$ THE V6 AUDI.... bah... the 2.8 VR6 motor is an expensive PAIN IN THE ASS... its faster stock(barely) but with a 100 dollar chip in the 1.8t, its game over. and dont get me started on the f*cking motor mounts on the vr6's

Maybe Im just pissed, pissed that my freinds are spineless, What else would you
call abandoment some night, when you're in a fight, and they could make things right?
Spineless. I miss some of my old friends, the ones who you could count on,
bet a huge amount on, the fact that they'd always have your back... Its like a kick in
the sack, just knowing, you've got nothing to fall back on. @!#$ this, Im done.
1.8t Audi FTW. Maybe I'm a bit biased though. However they're not kidding about repair costs.
My reccomendation, if you're going to buy the Audi try to find a reputable local mechanic who can do the service you need on it instead of a dealer or shop. For example I'm currently getting my entire timing service done (timing belt, water pump, t-stat, coolant flush, serpentine belt, etc.) for less than HALF what the dealer charges by taking it to a local vw mechanic.
Not a fan of either Nissan or Audi, in general.
However, the Maxima is a good car.
Fu<k VW and Fu<k Audi. Absolute junk.
Where is Darkstars?
Let him tell you about VW/Audi. You'll be running to your Nissan dealer.

I my self love Audi, if you get a certified Audi the warranty is extended for two years from your date of purchase. I still have 1 1/2 years left on mine. I have not yet had a problem with my A4 1.8t quattro (knock on wood). The handling in the car is a dream, and as for power it's not bad stock, but it can use an improvement. And the Audi A4 was named one of the safest cars of the year again for 2006.

not saying that audis or vws are bad........but we are talking about a 4 year old Audi A4 1.8T....its not the same as new
