Pontiac naming strategy

They're driving me nuts with it because they can't even follow their own naming system.

Here's how I'd work the damn thing...

All basic cars would have G followed by a number as their nameplate. Except that when it's the sport version we get rid of that stupid GXP label and call it the GT. Like, for example, instead of the Pontiac G5 GT like it is moronically called now; i'd call it the Pontiac GT5. See? Simplicity. Same with all the other cars. Too many freakin' G's in Pontiac's naming system.

Then, I'd have the cars have NAMES when it's an upper level model. You know, instead of calling it the Pontiac G5 LX or something, I'd call it the Pontiac G5 Pursuit. It's a psychological thing. Spend more money to get a name. They could even have a commercial that parody's the old Prisoner TV series. "I AM NOT A NUMBER! I HAVE A NAME!!!!"

Also, ALWAYS name the more expensive cars with higher numbers. Who wants to pay more for a smaller number?

G0 - A V6 version of the GTO. Pronounced Gee-Zero. "For those who want to go back to the beginning without having to pay the price."
G1 - I'd reserve this for car shows and prototypes and electric cars. You know, so they can say "It's our new ONE" Get it?
G2 - For the Pontiac version of the Chevy Aveo or whatever they choose to put out in the Sub-compact market.
G3 - I dunno, maybe a 2 seater sub-compact? Kinda like the old Honda CRX that Honda refuses to bring back.
G4 - Compact FWD sedan/coupe model. Renaming the G5 with something more sensible.
G5 - Pontiac Vibe
G6 - Mid-size FWD car. The current G6 fits that slot just fine.
G7 - Pontiac Torrent
G8 - AKA the Grand Prix 4 door RWD car which in two door form would be the GTO
G9 - Pontiac's version of a full-size SUV, a sportier Escalade

Then there'd be three wildcard "letter" cars:

GTA - For the Firebird whenever they decide the bring it back. You know... as the Alpha and the Omega of fast cars.
GTS - A rebadged Solstice
GTO - durr... the GTO. The upperlevel model would be called "The Judge"

Damn I'm good. They should hire me instead of whatever retard's running the show.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

I don't think it's smoke. I think it's adderol, or a funny reaction to oxycontin.

NO NUMBERS
im sick of numbers
pontiac has pleanty of great names. the grand prix. the trans am. the GTO. the persuit. WHY WITH THE NUMBERS??? it's confusing. pointless. classless (i dont care if mercedes and lexus do it, i think it demeans the nameplate). and adds nothing to be brand.
i agree, i dispise the ammount of G's now that they've begun naming the cars with them, such as the G6. beautiful car, hate the name. however, pontiac has been a brand of "GT"s for years now. i wouldnt say neccesarily keep that, but use a gt type name to describe each performance variety with the cars names. im a bit bias in this, but i personally am sad they took the GTP nameplate away from the grand prix. they'd made a name for themselves with that nameplate, and i believe it should still be with the model, and continue to be with it through the RWD platform.
and a second thing about the grand prix.... naming the 2 door model the GTO??? what on earth are you thinking? yes, the GTO originally started out as a normal car with a big engine, yes. but it developed into so much more, and i dont think it should ever be an option again. nor do i think it shoud be on the same platform as the new camaro. but that's just my personal oppinion.

in short, to hell with numbers. keep the names. cars shouldnt be defaced and legendary nameplates shouldnt be forgotten.

i actually think its a pretty good idea if pontiac is to go with this stupid g# @!#$, but i prefer names, it makes it more legendary if the car is a smashing success
i mean there are some exceptions like the bmw 3 and 5 and 7 series and such, they are talked about
but cars that are american have names that people know
like camaro, mustang, the judge
i mean seriously, the judge
thats like the coolest name for a car
and cobra
those are names people remember most
names that take people back and @!#$

You know where the name "The Judge" comes from? It's from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in. One of the catchphrases of the show was "Heeeeeeeeere comes DA JUDGE!!!!"

Not exactly "Eat my shorts" but it looked cool on the GTO.

i could agree with a better strategy when naming/numbering cars. higher number should equal higher class. and higher model package should get a name of some sort. or vice versa...give it a regular name and then tag the # on for a higher model. make the G4, G6, etc denote a package like chevy did with the z24, z26, z28, etc.
