SRT claims this to be the first use of VVT in a high-performance cam-in-block engine.
dont think that is 100% true , since GM is using it , or will be shortly
and i wouldnt call the over 400 hp truck/suvs low performance , and i know more cars are going to have it also
That interior console looks like shlt. I know that the car is not about luxury and look as much as it is about speed, but that center console looks like it came from a 95 Dodge minivan. They need to put some more shine in there. After all, it is a $80,000 car.
Hmm...still don't really care for the body. About time they got around to more hp but it still doesn't appeal to me.

like the viper needed any more power as it is...
Every time i see one in a mag or on my computer, i couldnt careless about them. But when i see them in person i fall in love with them. My automotive class in college had a 96 (i think) Viper RT/10 donated to our school. I LOOOOVVEEDD just siiting in it.

Well GM is for sure using VVT on some of their OHV V6s and on some OHV V8s.
Also the highlighted part is key. Eventhough GM has VVT on some of their OHV engines, it does not have VVT on their "High Performance" engines... i.e. LS2, LS4, or LS7.
Wait on the LS3 and a possible L76 for VVT.

like i said i wouldnt call the motors exactly low performance
had SRT said ultra high performance , i woulda agreed
since the viper has always fit in the ultra high category , and i think the C6 Z06 fits that category now , the ZR1 has always been there
i know the 07 LS2 has signs of the vvt innards
Not that I don't like the look, but it is kinda getting played out. It still looks awesome though. I highly doubt the Blue Devil will go into 6 digits if the Viper is staying under 90K. Why would GM make the Z06 blow away everything with price and power, then go and make the next model more costly and blow away the initial logic?
As for saying the interior isn't that great. Have you ever sat in a C6-Z06? Thats an 80K+ car, and you couldn't know it sitting inside. In fact, it is the same exact interior as the normal C6 with the exception of the seats that say "Z06" on them. Dodge and Gm both have this problem where the interior's of their top car aren't all that great.
I think someone is feeling a little pressured by the LS7

I am neither for GM nor Dodge. But the interiors on both of those cars look like plastic shlt. They could spend $500 more on the interiors and transform the inside completely. They just seem lazy or incompetent to create a good looking interior, even for a $80K car.

More power is always nice.
But the car still handles like A SLUDGEBOX im sure
i love the gauge lay out.
I have always hated the Vipers. You could give me one and I would dog it and eat up the rear tires then sell the car for 20k less than it is worth and get me a Z06. I hate the Viper more for the fact they have to do what they do with a V10, but GM can do it with a V8. Same as Ford and charged V8's.

Its all personaly preference by the brand.
I guess I have respect for both Cheverolet and Ford, never been a big Mopar fan (arn't they all just a little off?)
I like how Chevy sticks with the standard V8. Bigger displacement and what not
And I like how Ford uses smaller V8's, but feels free to throw a charger up on top of it.
IMO, if your going for a V10, just throw 2 more cylinders and make it an even dozen.

0-100-0-mph in the 12-second range
hmm that would put it well into the 11s no? didnt the late 90s vipers run mid to low 12s? if it can go to 100 and back to 0 again in 12 seconds.. it should be well into the 11s.
how much does it way?
lol blue devil or now, it still would have a hard time against the ls7. 2 cylinders more and a over a full liter more of displacement and 100 hp more for how much? it didnt say..

The 2008 Viper goes on sale this summer with a minor price increase expected over the current $86,995
im sure all this has to be damn near 100k.
i agree with most the others. ls7 ftw
btw is it just me or does the 1st pic kinda look like an austin martin minus the hood?

Yes I am a Chevy guy, BUT!!!!! I like other brands. Yes I uncluded Ford when I said that, but I would take a Ford GT, or even a 03 Cobra. I think they are sweet. I also like Dodge trucks and there motors. I feel when you put a V10 in the car (yes it is cool in a certain way), but it puts you with Exotic cars, but yet still can't compete. As if they cheated, but didn't cheat correctly.
