My New Toy!!! Woooo!!!
Monday, December 04, 2006 1:54 PM
I just picked this baby up last friday. It's a bone stock 2003 Yamaha R6 with only 1800 miles on her. The girl I bought it from purchased it new in 2003 and laid it down in a parking lot while practicing and was scared to ride it ever since. I still have to get gear and register it before I start riding so I'm confined to my apartment complex for now lol.

This big 'ole boat rudder has got to go!

^^Why does that "piss" you "off"? ^^ Be happy for the guy. You'll get yours in time.

Nice choice. I don't see a stearing damper on there and that bike has a tendancy to "head shake" so be careful on high rev 1-2 shifts, cresting hills at speed etc.

Great bikes, very good on the track. Hope you love it.

Buy good gear, no nylon crap, great helmet and don't skimp on the leather. Get a full suit. What good is the skin on your back if you can't walk?
Boots and gloves too. Expect to pay some big dollars on gear, but remember, good gear lasts a long, long time unless you bin it, and then it saves you a lot of greif.

It was a loving pissing off. I'd buy one next summer with my new job, but I want to save until I'm out of college.

And there is a 2006 running around campus somewhere.

Congrats on the bike. I love the R6s!

It's a very nice looking bike, and I totally agree about getting a full suit, boots, gloves, and a good full face helmet. It could definately save your life. I was hit by a car on my bike, and the leather suite and helmet really saved me.

Funny how F4i owners always call their bike a "CBR" (which is true) but they never mention the F4i part while CBR-RR owners almost always make the distinction.

Just yankin' your chain. I had a straight line "race" with a slightly modified (slip-on and a filter, so very slightly modified) on my RR and we were pretty much dead even.
Different story in the twisties, but I don't know how much was bike and how much was rider. I do know I am faster on my RR but that could just be comfort level.

Both of you enjoy your new bikes. Try to keep the insanity on the track though OK. I'm sick of reading about young dead guys every spring.
