Well, hopefully...lol
Heres the deal. Anyone who has ever driven a 3rd gen F-body knows they have their blind spots. Throw in the crappy lighting, night time, and tinted windows...it sucks. I wanted some factory fog lights but everyone was trying to rip someone off on the price of them. So I decided to get some aftermarket ones.
I visited the local ricer section at Advanced Auto and found a decent pair. While getting ready to purchase them the guy at the counter informed me of some excellent head lights. He said it made a world of difference on his 89 Trans Am. They were even on sale so I decided to give them a shot.
Here's what I ended up with
Here's a picture after I mounted them.
I didn't want the brackets real noticeable or the fog lights for that matter. Just didn't want that cheap ricer or redneck look. So I pulled half the front bumper apart and took the plastic pieces off behind it where the fog lights would normally mount. Then mounted them there and stuck em back and put the bumper back together. The picture shows them well but its on a pretty steep up hill grade and i'm looking right down on them. When normally parked when you walk up on the car they are barely noticeable if at all.
When it gets dark i'm going to make sure they are adjusted good and i'll take some pictures and let you know how they work out for me.
Oh yea, comments welcome good or bad. If I dont like em i'll just ignore you heh. I know my front lip is scraped to hell and yes there is a gap in the hood.
man, i love that generation of camaro!!!
wish i had one
silverstars are worth it and you got a clean set-up, doesn't look rice or redneck
just right
you should find that piece that KITT from Knight Rider, had. the red led bar in the front

Silverstars are the @!#$.
Seriously.
I've run those in every vehicle I have, or have ever owned.

I live way out on the east side of the Air Force Base. They call it the East Reservation and its some of the best hunting you can find around here. Deer are out like crazy. With it getting dark about 5:30 and I get off at 5:30 so i'm out around my house around close to 6pm. I'm not coming around a curve to meet up with a deer. Too lights too many I dont care, lol. If I like these lights real well i'm going to be replacing the high beams with them also. I need to fix my switch cause as of right now my high beams dont work at all.
Thanks for all the positive comments though.
Nice, I have some cheap fogs in my car for now just to see better on the highway.
I was going to get those exact headlights, but it would have been $90 to do all 4. How are you liking them? Big difference? I want to upgrade again because I feel the ones that I got just aren't cutting it. How are those fogs as well?
Defenitely looking forward to the reviews.. what did the setup run you cost wise?

They look good... I think you should do the high beams as well. It looks a little out of order with the lows being so new and clear, and the highs being original. Just my opinion. But clean install none the less.
Sold 6/30/06.
I hate those multi colored odd fog lights.
You should have went to Wal-Mart. They have these lights called "Blazer" or something. They are the same exact look and size of the stock GM ones. I had them on my Camaro and they looked just like the stock ones.
However, the Silverstars are good. I think everybody can agree on that.
And I just realized I need to update my sig. i haven't had my camaro for like 2 months now.
...?
I mean, really...a post about Silverstars? And fog lights? I've seen Mustang people get more excited over switching to Tri-Bars.
ling, I haven't really driven much at night with them. I just went out last night and turned them on to see how they looked. They seem a lot brighter and nice and white instead of yellow and dull. As for the fog lights...they aren't near as bight as i'd like. It does get pretty foggy around here though so hopefully it will help. The silverstarts ran about 15.00 a piece on sale and the fogs were 20. I got out the door for like 51 something.
David, I plan on doing the high beams as well. Just dont have the money at the current time. I probably should have just gone ahead and got the high beams insead of the fogs, but I need to trace all my wiring because my high beams aren't working atm.
Mike, yea thats exactly what I wanted to get. After I installed them and looked at them though i'm pretty happy with them. They aren't as bad as I thought they'd be. I like them after all. They were only 20 bucks some day i'd like to get some new ones. Just a real bright white color. These aren't near as bright as i'd like.
I don't know if they make sealed beams, but GE Nighthawks are also duly impressive, and fairly cheap.
And now for something completely different... Click the Minister.

Looks great! Love the 3rd gens, and the silverstars are perfect. I had the sealed beam ones in my old truck, and they were WAY better than any other sealed beam.
The fogs look good too. I like how they are tucked way back.
