Questions about Mirages
Thursday, October 12, 2006 1:14 PM
My boyfriend is a member of this site, he begged me to get an account. So here I am. Well, now I am into cars. Several years ago I used to street drag 1/8 mile in a 95 Hyundai Scoupe. It did pretty well. Now I want to make my current car go fast so I can shock everyone at the strip. I now have a 92 Mits Mirage. Noone would expect it to go fast so I want to surprise all the mustangs and cavys at the track. Anyone know of some options to help me? It is an Automatic 4dr. Thanks for any help.

The current issue (Nov.) of Modified magazine has a Mirage that has a complete AWD Evo (4G63) drivetrain swapped in. He had to basically make his own suspension, but it gives you an idea of what can be done.

here's a suggestion.

get a hayne's manual for your car, and learn the basics...then start worrying about modifying it.

i honestly belive the 4g63t motor was one of the best engineered motors of all time....

after seeing my buddies talon built with junkyard parts run consistant 12's on wallmart special tires while smoking like a mosquito truck.. i was convinced

Mirage is built on the same chasis as the Evo III and IV in Japan.

He has all the swap info and instructions on his site.

Transmission, I have a friend doing the entire swap. He bought an MIVEC or whatever Evo VII motor offline. Doing full body work, right hand drive conversion, AWD, suspension the whole 9 yards. He's keeping it top secret but when he deployed to the desert the guys house he was storing it at moved and I had to go move it to a storage unit for him. Its a mess but damn that engine is sweet looking. Sitting inside of a mirage engine bay is just nuts.
