So, I replaced the headgasket in my moms 97 Lumina 3.1L V6 after being very close to 100% positve that was the problem. Got it all back together went to start it and it cranked for maybe 1 second. Then after that when I tried to turn it over, it wouldn't crank, it would just click. It started out as slow clicks and then slowly sped up. So I replaced the starter and and the same thing happened, it cranked for maybe a second and then the clicking started in again. I'm so confused, I want this car to be fixed so I can have my car back to myself. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. Thanks in advance.
Fuel Pump?

Def not the fuel pump. I know it's getting gas, cause one of the problems I had was an injector leaking when I tried to start it..but I fixed that. The O-ring was bad.

Did you at least try jump starting it before replacing the starter? The primary cause of what you describe is a dead battery.

the former." - Albert Einstein
First thing I tried was jumping it. Didn't really think the battery was dead because chimed like normal, no lights were dim and no other symptoms of a dead battery. When I tried to jump it still wouldn't crank, it would just click still. Sorry for leaving something like that out, I'm just so sick of being under the hood of that car. Wayyy to many hours.
Alternator? Coil packs? Black Box Ignition?
Can't think of anything else. If our getting fuel, your getting spark, your getting air, you replaced the starter, what else could it be?
