Like the title says, I found a G5 that i'm absolutely in love with. Its black, 1 year XM, 7 speaker pioneer sound system,Ipod jack, fogs,
Carbon fiber dash kit, steering wheel controls, 16" aluminum wheels, spoiler, power everything, power moonroof/sunroof, auto, and in my price range at $17,000. Anyone have any suggestions, concerns, or something I should look for with the G5?
a supercharger?
I wrote this post a long time ago, a real long time ago, back in 94.
There's no superchargers available for the Pontiac G5. I dont even know if theres any bolt on performance upgrades available although i'm sure some Cobalt upgrades MAY work. Not 100% sure.

I'm not really concerned with the performance aspect of it. It's faster than my Sunfire, Sleeker than my Sunfire, and newer than my Sunfire. I'm looking for a car that I won't dump money into to make it look or drive nice, which with the G5 I would be satisfied with the looks and drive so I wouldn't need to add anything else onto it.
You can buy a brand new G5 GT for under $18,000.00
I'd definately get the GT. 4 wheel disk, 2.4L vvt eco, ect.
on the other hand... thats getting kinda close to solstice territory.... something you might want to consider.
But, being as the solstice is selling like hot cakes, you might not be able to wheel and deal on one like you can a G5.
Of course, the solstice isn't as nearly as big, only 2 seats as instead of 4. Little less full efficient, maybe more insurance on the Solstice.
Just a thought.

Yeah, $17,795 for the base GT. But with all the options I get with the coupe, the GT would be about $20,374. Otherwise I would be all over the GT.
i went and looked at the G5 GT 5 speed fully loaded with leather XM radio everything even side air bags 18G and for the bolt on GM makes a intake cat back header and few other things for the 2.4 engine i have them. and they will fit the 2.4 G5 GT
Id go with the GT i bet itll have a better resale and the gain in power. And it isnt too much more
They are not bad cars at all. I only don't like them in 5-speed cause the e-brake wasn't put in good with that console that moves. That and the grill is to easy to move. Chevy grill goes in too.
dude take it that car is so nice looking. there is no proplems with the cobalts. at 20K i have not had it in the shop for 1 thing. i have had the oil changed every 3k but thats it. the car is fun to drive i got the 2.4 5 speed and its fun hiting the gas and felling that car pull on you. the 2.2 will be a little slower but my friends got a cobalt LS with that motor and its good enought for him he said. i would take that car if i was you.
I dont like the plain G5 or Cobalt. But I like both the GT and the SS.
I havnt seen a GT in person yet. Im thinking of getting one down the road. BUt am leaning towrds the SS/SC for more stock warnty friendly power.
However Hahn is going to make turbos for the 2.4 VVT guys. Hes already figuring out what the motor can take with the Solstice he has. JUst needs a car to fit up the stuff on the delta body.
I am all that is man
Well Thanks guys for all the positive comments and suggestions... I bought the 2007 G5 today, and I'm soo happy!! I've only had it in my possession for less than an hour, but I can't stop going outside to look at it. I'll make a new post here with pics and info about the car tomorrow evening, but for right now I want to thank the org on everything it has done. It turned my ghetto-rise-sticker-superman-apc pos into a respectable car that I loved. I'll defiently be around checking out the amazing jobs everyone has done to their cars, it's really an inspiration that this website could be here filled with all these creative minds. Well, until tomorrow, good night.
I couldn't wait, had to snap one pic once I got her home...
congrats...now give me your wheels
Nice car, I love the G5's, and the only thing I would change (If I were purchasing one myself) would be the transmission.
However, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, drop that bitch. If a car
ever needed to be lowered, that's it.
