OPINIONS needed: Blacking out grille.
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 10:06 AM
Hey everyone.

I am kind of going for a "blacked out" look for my jeep and have been in the process of removing things that are chrome, silver, etc. I came across a black grille overlay for my Jeep and that made me wonder if I should black out the whole grille too.

I photoshopped this to try to get an idea but I am still unsure if I want to do it or not. So I thought I would post the pictures online to get some outside opinions on which will look better.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Have a good one,
Justin

If you do it flat black I think it would look good. If its going to be glossy though I think the body color looks better.

The overlay is flat black. It is the same ABS plastic as my headlight bezels so hopefully they will blend with each other nicely.

I decided to order it so once I get it in, i'll do some side by side shots and post them back up on here. The overlay was only 40 bucks so I didn't take a huge hit if I decide to leave it blue.

Thanks for the opinions so far. I appreciate them.

Have a good one,
Justin

Blaked out, and then paint the fender exteners black.

Rob the jewelry store and tell em make me a grill lol...

Seriously tho I think the blacked out would look better if it matched your fender flares like mentioned above.

I love the blacked out look. Definately post pics after it's installed. I think it looks very sweet!

UPDATE:

So I got the grille in the mail only to find out that it is textured black. The eBay ad I purchased it off of failed to mention that.

It is not hanging out in my garage as a display piece. Maybe in the future i'll just go out and pick one off a wreck TJ and paint it. Until then, the front is staying blue.

Have a good one,
Justin
