I don't have a car yet, but I want to choose carefully before I buy one. This will be my first car.
I love the Cobalts, but budget won't allow for the ss supercharged that I want. I'd have to get an LS, and add the spoiler and Supercharger later.
I know they all have the same or similiar body types. Which one though???
Like I said, it would definately be Cobalt but I can't get the one I want , or modify it how I want right away.
Any suggestions etc would be helpful.
I heard the ion is the most dangerous car ever lol so its up to you I would personally get the cobalt .

I'd look else where for a econobox. But... if it is a must to have one of these, I'd choose ION for their dent resistent body panels, better customer service from the dealer and IMO looks better. If were you, I'd wait on the the upcoming Saturn Astra (which will repace the ION). Much better executed car then these.

well if you need to have a supercharger , theres no kit avaliable yet as theres no tuning options for the cobalt/g5 yet, over on cobaltss.net theres quite a few people usually willing to trade trunks with there SS wing for either the ls low rise or no spoiler (usually asking for some $ to as well) or you can buy them online...gravana has one with carbon fiber on it...i bealive the g5 is sposed to have alittle bit upgraded interior
i have a 2006 colbalt SS and i love it. such a fun car to drive and looks really nice also. i would go with the G5 or cobalt the ion looks kinda funny and the center mount for the gauges is odd i think.
I got my Ion Redline for $15,000 out the door 2 years ago. I haven't had any mechanical problems since Ive had it. But it squeaks, rattles, and the shift knob wont stay on. It's fun as hell to drive tho. If you want a well built car wait for the Astra, if you don't mind crap build quality the Redline is the way to go.

<~~~~PWN3D!!
The only thing I really like about the ion was the way that it was four doors but still kinda looked like a 2 door. But If the build quality isn't that great I don't want it.
Um nothing on the G5? I've seen pictures of the Astra, not bad but not as sporty as I'd like. I originally wanted one of the classic Camaro's but decided against it since all are either very expensiveor falling apart.
So I'm trying to make up for that loss and get something kinda sporty that will last me awhile.
wow I actually like those... and i rarely like hatches...
Ion FTW..

I don't think the build quality is cheap.. It's really dependable too.. I also like the rear doors as well, pretty functionable..
Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe
if that is what the astra will be then i might buy a saturn
G6 !!!
yah. ok, so its a lil more, but the 2 doors are great. solid car. i like mine(:

Honestly i hate hatches i think their all ugly
That astra is making me seriously horny.
Im looking to get rid of my Solstice to have a 4 seater again. I guess I will wait to see what Saturn does.
I am all that is man
I have driven a cobalt and a ION, ill admit the ION's interior blows, the cobalts is respectable. But i personally like the looks of the quad coupe better than the cobalt, and you can pick up leftover redlines for like 15-16 grand.
ill take the g5 way cleaner imo. but i would like the s/c so its kind of a toss up.

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
I'd go for an Ion. The rear doors make hauling people, or anything so much easier. I also think that the Ion looks more sporty than the others.

Incorrect. GM has since stopped using the plastic body panels on ALL Saturns.
Panels are METAL now.

Really? that used to be one of their big selling points.
You learn something new everyday.
Wow, the pics of that Astra are really good. I usually don't like 2 doors, and I especially never like hatchbacks, but that car is very nice.

Umm not till 2008.. When the Astra rolls in.. The current Ion has the polymer panels still.. So does the Vue.. Right now the relay and the sky are the only Saturns that have metal panels.

yea the ion stll has the polymer panels, i think it's gonna be the last saturn to have them
Yeah, it will be..

Hmm, because I keep reading everywhere that all the 2007 models will be metal.
If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. No big deal. It's just what I keep hearing.
As for the reason I recommended the Cobalt SS, we love ours. It's everything we
were hoping it would be, & then some more. LOVE IT
