Ladies and Gents,
Karo and I went test driving cars on Friday afternoon and I must say that I am having a hard time deciding on what my next car will be. I have narrowed my choices down to the Toyota Corolla S and Honda Civic EX. If I were to get the Civic, my only hard choice would be whether to get a 2 door or 4 door.
Here is my reviews:
Toyota Corolla
-Good at city driving
-Not enough "pick up" at faster speeds
-Plenty of room for me (I am short)
-Great amount of trunk space
-Good gas milage
-Reasonable price
Honda Civic (4 door)
-Plent of space in front and back
-Huge amount of trunk space
-Attractive dash
-Oddly placed stereo and center console design
-Uber ugly ass end
-More money than I wanted to spend
Honda Civic (2 door)
In addition to posted above...
-Attractive all around, nice sporty design...no ugly ass end
-Akward accessibility to back seat
Now, here is what I want to know:
What is your experiences with these vehicles? Any pros and cons that you know of?
DISCLAIMER: DO NOT SUGGEST OTHER CARS BESIDES THE ONES I ASKED ABOUT, I DONT WANT TO WASTE MY TIME AND READ IT BECAUSE I AM NOT CONSIDERING ANY OTHERS AT THIS TIME. SO DON'T BOTHER JACKING MY THREAD.
i myself am not a giant fan of the new civics. so im gonna say go with the yota.
plus you sound like you like the yota more anyways.
i'm baaaaack!!
Yaris.
Failing that,
Civic.
4-Door if insurance is an issue ... or even cares.
LS1's never blow up;
Spray that puppy... 02 sensors are overrated.
I also forgot to mention that the Civic is great at higher speeds and that the blind spot on the 2 door is horrible.
My wife loves her Corolla-S. Thing handles like a go-cart too. Even I like drving it sometimes..lol. it's really a pretty good car for the money. I have no complaints.

I would personally go with the corolla simply because i am not a fan of the inside of the civics.
I really like the new design inside the civics. The Speedo placement as well as the head unit is sick. My buddy bought a two door Si, with the Honda Performance package. And as much as i dislike civics, its an amazing car. its rides beautifully, its good on gas milage and its quick.
I'm a big fan of the Corolla S. I like toyota a lot more then Honda though. It all depends on what you're going to do to it. Are you going to mod it? If so are you going to want to go performance? you say the yota lacks the top end power, well I know the civic lacks the low end power. Which do you use more? Are you more of a city driver or a high way driver or a mix? Because I know that power down low is a lot nicer in the city. I really like the corolla S. If you go for a 4 door civic I definetely like the rolla S a lot more.
I'd say go for the corolla since most hondas have a high mark up period.
Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size
Well we just went to another Honda dealer so Karo could drive a Fit (since he has one on order now)...and they offered a fully loaded 2WD Honda CRV EX for only a thousand more than the Civic. The dealer said they are literally giving them away because a lot of ppl want something with better gas milage and they are getting a new design.
So I have this to think about now too...a fully loaded CVR EX for 20k...I don't think its a bad deal at all.
dad wasn't UNimpressed with the CRV...he just liked the RAV4 more.
it's not a bad vehicle, though.

Between the Civic and the Corolla, I'd go with the Corolla. I think it's just a better overall value.
As for the CRV, you're getting into an entire different domain of cars... I like the CRV, but like libit01, I think a Rav 4 is much better. You'd probably be able to get one of them for 20 bills too.
My advice would be drive the CRV and Rav 4 both, and then make a decision on what's most pratcical for yourself. You might be looking for the fuel economy of the Civic or Corolla, but a small SUV might suit you better. Good luck in your decision.
dude, just get any of them if you don't like it you can always trade it in! I like the rolla better. Never been a honda guy although I have an 88 integra !lol!

-Fold down seats = lots of room on the hatch as well.
-Comfy.
-106 HP DOHC VVT-i engine.
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
Corolla S out of them 2 but if i were you i would seriously look into the Yaris much better on gas and just as nice as the Corolla not to mention its cheaper lol
you could also get a 3 series BMW
good luck
My right-now-self says both are infidel cars and I would never buy one.
My old-self says go with the Corolla for 3 main reasons:
1.- Civics are overrated, but then again so is the Corolla.
2.- Toyota has better quality than Honda.
3.- Toyota apparently suits best your particular necessities.
I have owned the same Toyota since late 1991. I vote Corolla.
Test drive an XRS model yet? I want to go test rod... errr... drive one of those.
Consider a Scion tC?
Well, I think I have it narrowed to one of the Hondas because Karo is getting the Fit...2 for 1 special!
As for the Rav4...its hideous and I would never consider it. The CRV has options that I like, for example, the space for kids, dogs, and camping/traveling. We had never considered an SUV because of the price but now for this value, its something that I really am looking into. Especaily when we have an available 2.99% interest rate for a loan.
my brother works for toyota and has never seen a corolla without an obscene amount of mileage (over 300k) come into the shop for anything other than scheduled maintenance.
