Ok my friend has a 99 Alero with the 2.4L. Her car, at idle, sputters and wants to shut off, the lights dim and flicker, but when she puts the throttle down to move it goes away. Im thinking it may be a bad fuel filter and i think the car may be leaking gas somewhere. So it could be the line causing the problem also.

What do you think?

If its not that prolly a MAP sensor, TPS valve(or whatever it is) etc.

Sounds like a bad IAC valve to me..

I'd say try a TPS (throttle position sensor) first, and if that doesn't work, then an IAC (idle air control) valve. fuel filters only really cause problems in the higher RPM ranges.

Replace the filter anyhow... cheap insurance.
