2007 Hyundai Elantra
Thursday, April 13, 2006 10:14 AM

The Elantra’s styling is intended to be more upscale and distinctive than the current car. Elantra sits 2.2 inches higher and two inches wider, which also boosts trunk capacity to 14.2 cubic feet. The larger Elantra now offers enough passenger space (98 cubic feet) to pull itself into the mid-size class, according to the EPA. Power comes from a 2.0-liter four with 138 hp and 136 lb-ft. Not too many parts from the old car remain. Elantra increases its value by offering six standard airbags, antilock brakes and front-seat active head restraints. On sale this fall, the Elantra should be priced from about $14,000 to $17,000.

Isn't the Elantra a little underpowered for cars in its class?

I could be wrong...thought I would ask.

i see the resemblance in the upswing of the windows. the Hyundai looks more bland than the Lexus. it seems there are a lot of curvy parts in the Elantra, I'm not sure what to make of that yet

I see a little jetta from the tail lights and a little corolla in the headlights, I don't know if its the angle but thats what I see... looks a lot better than the current model in my opinion

All three have the same general look. But like in Hyundai tradition (copying higher end models) the design cues are from the IS.

And as of now, No 5-door model... Yet.

Nate, have you test driven one? I don't know what you are driving, but the standards that an Elantra comes with is much better than my J-body for sure. Maybe the J has better engine quality, but I would rather have all those options that Elantra offers with its most standard.

Looks good. After driving one of those I started to like it. it's nothing amazing, but it is a nice car. and this new one looks awesome, very stylish and flowing. I like it.
