3.8 Blower

We're looking for a 3.8 Blower to fit onto my Dad's 88 LeSabre T-Type. Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm looking, but no luck so far.

He can always rig one up. I'd go with a Turbo though since it won't rob power from the engine as it's making power. Or he can always drop in a blown 3.8 v6 from any number of GM fwd vehicles that came with the supercharger option.

^^^ Werd, you also won't have to try to re-engineer the block from what I've read.

There are a few threads in this forum that have to deal with the 3800...

Try searching: 3800 S* and see what comes up.

the blowers came out in the series 2 3800's, that's a series 1 engine. the fit would ge questionable at best, and the engine not being made for boost, would probably go bye bye.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

3.8s are an awesome platform I was going to swap one into my fiero. but im just putting in a turbo 3.1 . couldnt he have it rebuilt with new internals just as cheaply as finding a new mtor?

I'd ask someone at Kenne Bell... a big Buick supporter back then and has been into the high helix blowers longer than most.

y'mean twin screw blowers? there's no twin screw right now that directly bolts up to the 3800, there's an adaption kit sold for a whipple at the w-body store.

again, because it's a N/A previouse generation engine, it's not going to be easy. in order to put a blower on an L36 (N/A series II 3800) you need L67 (S/C series II 3800) heads, lower intake manifold, pistons, rods, the blower itself, a new computer, new injectos... and more, im sure. it's not just as simple as stickin a blower on top. plus, yours isnt a series II, i dont know what the differences are, but im sure it would make it a bit harder. on top of that, the transmission in the car will probably not last, either. you could put a turbo on it, but again the engine's not prepped for boost. turbo's are generally better for that situation, but you wouldnt be able to turn up the boost. dunno what to tell ya man

He's pretty set on the supercharger. But from what you guys are saying, this would be a bad idea unless he swapped in a series 2 engine that's better equipped for it, right? I'll see what he says.
