I will be getting a new job this summer and dumping my Target job. I am looking at getting a new car. I've been looking and I want new, like brand spankin new with like 1 mile on the odometer. This is the list that I have been looking at, pricing, buildiing to what I want on there websites (not in any particular order). What do you all think?
1) Scion xB
2) Acuara RSX
3) Cobalt SS
4) Mazda 3
5) Mazda 6
6) Ford Focus 3-Door ZX3
7) Ford Focus ZX5
8) Honda Civic Coupe
9) Honda Civic Si Coupe
9) Scion tC
10) Neon SRT4
Thats my list.
RSX
Make sure its the type-s though
Thats a very wide list. Are you looking for performance or not? I mean you list a civic SI then you list a civic? You list an xB then next is a RSX. It depends what you want. I'd probably go with a new Si or an RSX Type-S from that list.
Either the RSX or the SI..

Ya I am really liking the RSX and of course it will be the 6-Speed manual Type S if I do decide to go with that. I'll see though, it might be a little bit pricey for the Type S. I kind of want to stay around the $20-23K mark. Maybe I could come up with an extra $3k for a down payment. The Si would be nice too.
personally all those cars on the list if i was putting out the money it would be the colbalt ss just because the srt has 4 doors
1998 Cavalier
1995 Trans Am
1984 Camaro Z28
Like I said it also depends on what you're looking for. My mother-in-law has a mazda 6 6cyl and its pretty peppy. Not the fastest car but really comfortable to drive, roomy, lots of options, drives great, and handles extremely well. The new 6's are suppose to be a turbo 4cyl. Faster/better gas mileage. The 3's are nice but i'd go 6 or neither.
I would have to really consider the cobalt SS also, but i'd probably go 2.4 non S/C SS.
1) Scion xB- plenty of cargo room but this thing has an Echo engine, I hope your not in a hurry to get anywhere!
2) Acuara RSX- prestige and the price to go with it, not to mention a features list that is lacking compared to the civic si.
3) Cobalt SS- I drove one of these last week, this lacks prestige, impressive features, and it still looks like a Cavy.....this screams "boy racer"
4) Mazda 3- fun to drive , can add many features.....a solid everyday car.the biggest drawback is the association with ford
5) Mazda 6- This is in a totaly different class then the other cars on this list, and the 6 is not the leader of its class......the inteiror just doesn't match up to most cars.
6) Ford Focus 3-Door ZX3..its a focus...
7) Ford Focus ZX5.see above
8) Honda Civic Coupe..nice car, drives nice, very limited highway power
9) Honda Civic Si Coupe, many features, trendy, fu, fast, affordable, everything the RSX S is and more, a solid choice.
9) Scion tC0 many features, cheap, plenty of power and deccent car
10) Neon SRT4- its still a neon.......all it has is speed.
My conclusion? buy and Acura TSX

To me there's THREE that really are the best overall.
1) Rsx-S
2) Cobalt SS/SC
3) Scion TC
The new civics have a great responsive chassis, but they look small and unattractive in person.
If you're keeping this car for quite some time I'd go with the RSX-S, you won't be dissapointed.
the rsx lacks comfort features like an arm rest, Navi, and does ti all at a higher cost then the civic si

Out of the list you posted, I would lean more toward the RSX (Type s) or a Scion tC. Both are great cars.
Have a good one,
Justin
1) Rsx-S
2) Cobalt SS/SC
3) . . . . .

Narco - spot on quick reviews. I'd have to agree with almost everything you said there. You are about the only other person I have heard, besides myself, that have mentioned the lacking interior on the 6's. It kinda reminds me of a Pontiac Grand Am with the round vents. I wasn't impressed as far as creature comforts go. As I remember the cup holders suck too, I could be wrong though...
TSX is an awesome car. You could get a used one, well equiped in your price range. I would at least test drive one. New Si would be a great choice too, but I would get an RSX over it because of the image it has. Too many kids roll the Civics these days. God do I sound old. (I don't drive a Cavalier anymore either, just putting that out there before someone gets uppity with me)
Plus a TSX will be useful for a long time with the 4 doors. Say you have a child, either now or later. No need to trade in your car, just slap a car seat in it. Plus it is still sleek and sporty as hell. Lotta after market. Not "everyone" does that car either. Not nearly as comman as Civics, J-Bodies/Cobolts, ect...
Good luck and make sure you give all the cars you are thinking of a good test drive, not just a beating. Really feel them out. $20,000 is a lot of money to throw at something without giving it a good look...

run insurance quotes on all those cars. it might help you cut down your list if you find out a few are astronomical. unfortunately i have to do that when i buy cars. hopefully this won't be the case in 2 more years, then I'll be 25.
Thanks for all your help. I have been reading up on reviews upon revies on these for a few weeks now. I havne't been able to go to the "bigger" city to look around and see what i'm dealing with. But after some of the things I have read and some jabber from others I have narrowed it down to these....
1) Scion xB
2) Scion tC
3) Mazda 6
4) Civic Si
5) Acuara RSX
I want something brand new. I want it to be mine and have it for a good 6-10 years. I have looked into the Focus' more recently and have got rid of those as my options. My boss has a Mazda 3. It looks nice. I haven't rode in it yet but if I go with the 3 or 6, i'm going to get the bigger engine. The Acura is still a bit pricey but maybe I can afford the payments. The Scion's still are stickign with me. I like the looks of the two I have listed. The xB is "different" and there aren't more than two where I live and they are affordable.
Any of you have any persoanl experience with the ones I have chosen? Granted they will be brand new and not used.
Don't stretch yourself. I say go with the tC. Even if the RSX is a little bit nicer you will be much happier having a new car and some money to still be able to buy gas and drive. I have been a big fan of the tC since it came out. I dont think there is a better car for the price those are brand spankin new.
I didn't say there isn't a better car. I said there isn't a better car for the price. Just to clarify that.
I just went on
Scion's wbsite and priced one. It came to, i'll say $20k with the options I chose. And it does seem really nice. I will have to go and drive one now. Thanks for all your help.
That price was without the sport muffler, TRD lowering springs and shocks struts.
Need an edit button because I just edited my ride.
for 21 grand i would get a type s.... i dunno how much they are new but my cousin got one in 02 for 225 brand new... his didn't have the optional kit or fogs though... although who needs them.

21$k for a Tc seems kinda steep to me.. I would go for the rsx..

Don't get the damn upgrades from the dealer. They will just rape you. There is nothing dumber than financing mods. You can get all that crap cheaper on ebay or from vendors on scion life.
Civic Si has my vote
