I duno if you actually watched the video but he had traction problems left and right, its easily a 9 second car. And for you Z06 buffs, show me a C6 Z06 run that and ill give it too ya, until then, the Ford GT will own it. Ford GT also has higher top speed than C6 Z06.

The car dyno'd at 501RWHP and 492RWTQ.

that and the car is half the price of the gt 40
that gt was wagging its ass the whole time... lots of power getting lost in tire spin and ass wiggling.... with slicks and maybe a little suspension tweaking, that thing probably could go low 10/high 9...
As to the Z06 argument, you people are comparing to totally different things. Ford built the GT to be a limited production supercar, while corvette was always intended to be a poor-man's supercar. And while the Z06 is all motor, its also a very maxxed out engine. Once you build a stock engine that efficient, its very hard to get more out of it without just screwing something up. I very much doubt you'll be seeing any Z06's going that fast without a lot of nitrous or a built motor/turbo. And you can all argure it till your blue in the face, but until a Z06 actually does it, all the could/would/shoulds are pointless. Speaking of pointless, more than half the people on this site can't afford either, including myself, so really, why argue about it?

Scarab even if the Z-06 is supercharged it will still cost thousands less then the GT. The GT is an awesome car don't get me wrong, but for half the price you can have a car that is equil to it. So why bother? And it took Ford putting a supercharger on the GT to make it that fast to begin with while the Z-06 is N/A and its that fast. Nope further proof that Chevy is faster then Ford because without the supercharger on the GT the Corvette would own it!
And as for the whole he needs slicks arguement don't forget that the GT has half shafts and if he were to run slicks could they handle the power without twisting off the car?

They didn't just slap a supercharger on the car Jack.... they designed it around having an s/c engine for whatever reason... and the problem with the Z06 is that on 11:1 compression, GOOD LUCK supercharging it without replacing pistons for low compression units first. Or at least spending $20-30K to get it to work right. The point of my post was that they are 2 different cars and designed for 2 different purposes, thus not being comparable. Ferrari's run 13's in the 1/4, does that make a vette better? Take them both to a road course and you'll see that argument fall apart very quickly. Same thing with the GT.

I'm not for Ford, or against Chevy, i'm simply saying this is a stupid argument which can never be settled. For one thing they're two different cars designed to be two different things. Thats like saying if my beetle beat your cav in the 1/4, that its only because i had a turbo and if i didn't you would have won. In the end, my car does have a turbo, and i DID win, and thats what matters. Until a Z06 does beat that time, then there's no point in talking smack and using stupid ricer excuses like "oh, well they needed a supercharger". Thats so lame Jack, i'd have expected more out of you.

As of what we know-- because these was GM's numbers theoretical estimate # is 198mph. But here is the thing, Vettes hit their (red-line limited) top-speed in 5th. On the C6 ZO6, it hit 198mph at 6100rpms, 900 rpms short of redline.
Point being... C6 Z06 is well capable of over 200mphs, it is just somebody has to have the balls try this theory.
But both Z06 and GT have one objective: make it go fast and make it handle like on rails.
Both does their execution well and to the point they are equal. Now the difference on these two, one will set you back $150K+ (if you find one as they are now discontinued) and the other will set you back $65K+. Your choice.
Now if Ford would've popped in a Saleen S7 engine in the GT then I will say: king of best bang for the buck for the exotic price class ($150K+).

Scarab, I know the Vette has half shafts too but what I was getting at is have you ever seen a high hp Vette at the track wring the half shafts off the car? I have and it ain't pretty. I was only stateing that should they put slicks on the GT and run it the shafts may not be able to handle all the hp the engines putting out. I wasn't knocking the GT just stateing a fact the half shafts and high hp with slicks DO NOT MIX WELL !!!
I like the GT but I don't think its worth what Ford wants for it. I would however buy a Z-06
if I could afford one. Half the price and it can take a GT? Thats for me.
