Wait a tic, there is an SS and an SS Super charged?? I thought there was on the SS WAS the Super chearged version??
Yep, its the 2.4... 2006 has the N/A SS 2.4 VVT or the SS supercharged. I went with the SS and was fortunate to find one with a manual tranny.. apparently not the easiest thing to find on the 06 SS. Thanks for the votes of luck.. just breaking her in now.. 400 more miles and i can see what she can do

Just go ahead and let her rip. I don't do the breaking in thing anymore. Go ahead and just aim for the speed limiter and seat those rings.

Watch the warranty disappear when they connect into the ecu to see what happened...

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!

Cobalt SS Turbo > Cobalt SS S/C
Is that the only difference between the SS and the SS S/C? the engine is bigger but no supercharger? any idea how much more the S/C option adds? seems like you'd be better off with a 2.4 anyway since you have a 170hp N/A so slap a turbo/supercharger on it and you'd blow away any factory S/C cobalt. Even just a bunch of good bolt-ons should get you pretty close to 200. Nice car, good luck and have fun with it.

My other car is an interceptor.

Don't tell me that the 2.4 VVT is the ones from Camry and Tc. At least VVT is the engine type for Toyotas and I think the newer camrys has 2.4 and the Tc has the camry engine.
I dont think it is.
Isnt this the same engine in the Soltice and Sky?
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.

The 2.4 VVT isn't a good engine for forced induction. It has much higher compression than the 2.0 or 2.2 ecos already, and the person would want to get rid of the VVT anyways. Think of it like the difference between the Celica GT and Celica GTS engines. Although the GTS engine has 180hp vs. 140, anyone wanting to go turbo would want to use a GT, because of the already higher compression and and extra annoying parts involved in VVT-il.

No, it's not. Similar idea, different engines.

Yes.
yeah i test drove a SS S/C when i bought my N/A. It had alot of punch. couldnt really get into the giant wing on the back.. certainly easy enough to remove, but it had cloth seats and i really wanted the heated leather. they also wanted about 4 thousand more. I never had any problems with my ld9 2.4 in my 2002 z24 so i figured i would stick with what i know. granted the engines are very different, but it was a great selling point when i read up on the 2.4 VVT. apparently the most horses and torque for an engine in this class. and at 18 thousand.. i got everything i wanted in it. thanks for the feedback pplz. will post mods as they happen.

Damn Tango's back! Hey man congrats on the new car.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that
nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for
which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his
own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of
being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than
himself.

Companies have already been able to crack into the computer for the 2.4's to control the vvt. Its the same computer used to control the vvt in the Trailblazer's I-6, and Colorados I-5 so controling the vvt for turbo shouldn't bee a problem at all consdering they had a twin turbo I-6 in a trailblazer
