Full Size SUV options...
Saturday, February 04, 2006 8:24 AM
I am thinking about selling the GTP this spring, and taking the old z71 off the road, and using it for personal use only. As I will never sell it.

What I want is a full size, v8, 4x4, seating for 5 SUV. Other then Yukon's (Suburbans are just TOO big). What else is out there I should be looking at?

Thanks.

PS. If anyone in Ontario is looking for a GTP, get in touch with me in a couple months.

The Durango is about the perfect size for an SUV. I never found anything that I couldn't fit inside the truck, and you can just about only find one in a V-8, there were V-6 Durangos made, but only about 90 and only in 98 and 99.

The Honda Pilot is a great truck, but it only has a V-6. They are great trucks though...

Toyota has come out with a lot of new things lately. I'd check them out too.Nissan makes that Armada thing, but it is HUGE. Good choice of a name for that thing. Good lookin truck though...

I saw a Durango the other day, it really doesn't even look full size from the outside, not even much larger then a Jimmy/Blazer.

Drove the Pilot, and didn't like it for the same reason I don't like all other Honda's. I just cannot sit comfortably in them. Never have been able too, and for that reason, I won't buy one.

I will have to go look at the Sequoia some time. Looks like it is a nice truck.

I test drove an 03 Escalade yesterday while my z71 was having a new exhaust put on. It is sweet as hell, but I think the insurance may kill me on a Caddy. Gonna have to call them and as I guess.

Your insurance may go down. My old roommate had a Ford Focus, a semi totaled that car, and now is driving an Lincoln LS, and his insurance is cheaper. You maybe getting the answer you are looking for, never hurts to ask.

tahoe/yukons are gonna be the way to go IMO... with the new GMT-900s coming out, the old tahoes/yukons have massive discounts.

The Durango is a lot bigger on the inside then it looks, it's the greatest thing about the rig. I moved a lot of stuff in my Durango, and I only filled it up one time.

I test drove quite a few SUVs while looking for one for my wife. I loved the Armada the best, but she didn't want one so large (ended up with the Murano). I never drove the Sequoia, so I can't comment on how it compares.

i vote for the durango, also. in my parents' 99, i had a twin-size air mattress in the back with the back two rows folded down. my only advice would be to get the 4.7 OHC, because the 318 isn't worth the gas it drinks and the 360 gets about 10mpg city (with the 3.52 gears). i still get depressed every once in a while when i think about them selling it, because i really liked that thing.

I am Biased on my opinion becaue it is what I build.

But I just purchased a Trailblazer withe the 5.3 V8 with DOD. I love it plus buying a Trailblazer, Trailblazer SS, Envoy, Envoy Denali, Rainer, Saab 9-7x, Issuzu Assender would keep the plant I work at running for another 48 seconds. LOL
